COUDN'T SET IT DOWN

I HAVE 2 SMALL KIDS AND PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT I READ BECAUSE OF HOW LITTLE FREE TIME I HAVE. THIS BOOK KEPT ME UP LATE I COULDN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW IT ENDED.

Harvesting the Heart and other Jodi Picoult books

I have read a number of Jodi Picoult's books and always enjoy the story. Her characters are well developed and the reader is invested in them - which makes her endings all the more disappointing. It seems as if she becomes tired of her characters and wraps up story lines quickly without a real ending. Harvesting the Heart actually had a more satisfying resolution than Saving Faith or Vanishing Acts - which, after a great build up and story just.....ended. Wrapped up too quickly, unrealistically and just over. As if she became tired of telling this story mid way through.
The Pact is probably one of the better resolutions in books of hers that I have read - but overall I would enjoy her stories better if the conclusions were actually brought to one. I leave her books wondering what happened after she quit writing and that is not satisfying.

Another Picoult Hit

If you have read any of Jodi Picoult's novels, then this one is right at the top. It is in two modes, Paige's view of how her life is going, and how Nicholas, her husband, perceives life. Paige's mother left her when she was five, and she feels that she cannot be a good mother because she was never mothered. Nicholas is working towards being chief of heart surgery, and finds it hard to deal with his heart patients and Paige and a newborn. Top reading. Her best two novels are Finding Faith and My Sister's Keeper, with Vanishing Acts a close second along with Harvesting the Heart.

A must read for all mothers

I am a huge Jodi Picoult fan but somehow just read Harvesting the Heart for the first time. I finished it 5 minutes ago and have never written a online review but feel this book is worth it. I cried all the way through the book. I have a 8 month old son and would highly recommend this book to every mother.

Motherhood Isn't Always Fun

I LOVE Jodi. Also, it was about a woman struggling with motherhood, and I can relate to that, being a PPD survivor. I enjoyed the book but was also disappointed. It didn't live up to the other Jodi books I have read and loved so much.

The gist of the story is that a young girl who has an abortion and runs away from home marries a man she assumes is Prince Charming, but he isn't. He isn't bad, just not perfect. When thrust into Motherhood she buckles under the pressure and runs away. I could relate to the issues she faced as a new mom. Jodi Picoult did a wonderful job of illustrating the thoughts and feelings of a new mother.
