My favorite in the series so far

Former blood slave Zsadist is arguably the most deadly member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. With his scarred face and shady past, Zsadist is a vampire who even the other members of the Brotherhood fear. When a female civilian vampire is kidnapped, Zsadist finds himself consumed with finding her and with avenging her by killing the lessers who dared take her. Though Bella makes it clear that she doesn't want to be avenged, Zsadist finds that the only way he can make his feelings for her clear, and get away from the darkness that threatens to consume him, is by hurting those responsible for her pain.

Lover Awakened is the third book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series following Dark Lover and Lover Eternal. These books are all fantastic, but I have to say that so far this one might be my favorite. I love the idea that in the first books readers were clear on the fact that Zsadist was NOT a good man. Even his own brothers would rather not have their mates along with him. And his twin, Phury, described Zsadist as "ruined, not broken" meaning that he was beyond salvation and nothing could help him. Well, I love a broken hero and Zsadist was the perfect example. I LOVE how Bella taught him to feel again and encouraged him to let go of the darkness inside. The journey that they went on together, through arduous and stressful, was one of the most emotional rides I've been on with a hero and heroine in awhile and I just want to start Lover Revealed right now and get to know more about these men. This series is addictive, and they only keep getting better. For anyone who enjoys paranormal romance and dark fantasy, the Black Dagger Brotherhood has what you're looking for.

HBO or Showtime Series a MUST for these books!!!

GOD!! what a great series of books so far, i'm hooked and can't wait for the next book. If someone at HBO or Showtime doesn't offer to put her stories on as a series, they're crazy...what a great show these stories would make...i'm in love with all her Warriors!!

amazing dialogue and main characters

More of a 4.5 Amazing dialogue, and the tension between Belle and Zsadist was amazing up to the point where they did the deed, then their story kind of took a backseat. The dialogue among the brothers was also amazing and superfun. I couldn't put the book down.

I was a bit hesitant about this book since I don't like it where the H/H are victims, but the author did a great job with the flashbacks on when the Hero was a bloodslave. A very good job. You end up understanding the characters, but not feel sorry for them.

I liked this book better than the 1st book of the series.

Story of Zsadist

This is my favorite in the series. Book 3 of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series was amazing. Zsadist had a hard life when he was taken from his family as a baby and sold as a slave. He was tortured and abused for a hundred years before his twin found him. Because of his past he has become hateful and cold. All of this changes when he meets Bella. I like that J.R. Ward does not hold back no matter how ugly the story is she puts it out there. My heart went out to Zsadist and you cant help but want to save him.

Pretty Emotional

Great Book - I have still to be disappointed with the BDB series.
These are great books.
Lover Awakened is so good.
You'll get Happy, Sad, Turned-on, Excited, Depressed - lol
Great book - even though after they do finally do it, it does get a bit slow, but still great.
