Why hasn't this been made into a movie?

I agree with most of the reviewers. This is my third Hunter novel (Havana, Hot Springs, Point of Impact), and each is better than the last!

The pacing on this book is incredible! Most books that follow the style of cutting between storylines take too long, or don't provide enough of a payoff before switching...Hunter finds the ideal balance. I found that I rarely wanted to skip over one storyline to get back to another.

The Swagger character is made for movies. He's the classic Stoic man, with enough depth to make him interesting, but not too much that adapting it to film would prove difficult.

As long as someone doesn't pull a "Sahara", it would translate well. Hmm...who would play the leads?

Best of its genre

This book was so good that I loved every word of it! Bob Lee Swagger is the ultimate male. With elements of David Morrell's First Blood, this great story of payback and redemption is one that helped to break the stereotype that all Vietnam vets were a bunch of PTSD psychos.

The story moves at such a unyielding pace that when it reaches it's brilliant conclusion, I was cheering out loud. I hope Stephen Hunter writes more books that deal with modern times because he is the best.

High-Octane Action Thriller

Wow, another 5-star review for Point of Impact. The sheer number of 5-star reviews should strongly suggest that this is a book not to be missed. Two things are a certainty about author Steven Hunter: 1) he knows his guns; and 2) he knows how to write fast-paced, action-oriented, plot-twisting thrillers. Anyone who is not yet familiar with master sniper Bob Lee Swagger will soon be.

This time the loner Bob Lee Swagger is coaxed out of retirement to perform one last service for his country - to assassinate a would-be assassin before he can complete his contract. But nothing is as straight-forward as it appears to be. And somewhere along the line Swagger is forced to reluctantly team with FBI agent Nick Memphis in order to unravel the series of events. But no spoilers here. Read Point of Impact and you'll guarantee yourself one thrilling ride.

Awesome! Hunters best no question

This book was awesome. It is the reason I read Hunters other titles. I was glued to this book and read it in one 24 hour period. It keeps you guessing the whole time and the action never stops. truely a pleasure to read. If you like this book, the other Bob lee book that is next best is "Point of impact"

Read It

Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter is a great example of how one decision can change your life. The author uses great literary techniques to make the reader really feel what's going on.
The book starts out when Bob Lee Swagger (ex-sniper US marines) is asked to come out of retirement and do one more mission.
The plan was to assasinate a high esteemed Russian leader. The job was executed perfectly but things go bad when Bob finds out the plan was not just to kill the boss but also to kill him. Bob then spends his time trying to kill the people who tried to take his life away.
The only people Bob trusts are a young woman named Sarah and another young man named Nick. Everyone else has either betyrayed him or been killed.
The two then help Bob with his plan. But things go ary when Sarah is kidnapped.
This is a great book for those who like the Tom Clancy style without all the political talk.
