Gluten-free paradise!
The other 23 5-star reviews say it all -- this book is amazing. So far I've made fantastic French/Italian bread (more Italian, I'd say), pizza, scones, peach muffins, and chocolate chip cookies, and all have been wonderful. The cookies were, hands-down, the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever made (
gluten
or no gluten). The bread was so much faster and easier to make than wheat bread that I'd never bake wheat bread even if I could eat it. The other three recipes were equally flawless.
I now have three big jars of flour -
baking mix
, bread mix, and pizza dough mix - and my baked goods have been repeatedly requested by my gluten-tolerant fiance and friends.

The Gluten Free Book you have been looking for!!
I first heard about this book and Annalise Roberts from a friend who's mother had Celiac's. She shared some of the coconut cake with me and from then on I was hooked. Ms. Roberts goes above and beyond finding a way to make food taste WONDERFUL and also be
gluten
free
. I know, it's hard to believe! She also has a simple break down in flours so you are not running all over the country buying 12 differant flours for one recipe. She must have a remarkable palate as her recipes are dead on. Please read the whole book and follow each recipe exactly and you will have the best gluten free baked products you have ever had. Even my husband who does not have to eat gf LOVED the cookies. In the past when I have purchased pre-made or made a recipe from other books, my family just takes one bite, looks at me with the deer in the head light look and says, MMMmmm...good Mom. I know they make a direct line for the nearest waste basket out of my sight and kindly deposit it there as quickly as possible. With these recipes they are just hovering around me and asking for more. They really truly enjoy them because they are delicious. The next best part is, they are EASY to make and cost much much less! If there is anyway you can get to an Asian market you can usually get the flour at a really reasonable rate. Take my word, this is one investment you HAVE to make for your gf family!! ENJOY!!

BEST, BEST, BEST GF Baking Book. Run and buy this one!
I have been GF for a few years now and have my fair share of disappointing, drab, and even disgusting
baking mishaps
during that time. I hated books with 546 different ingredients that you cannot find and others that tell you to use five blends of bean flour for chocolate chip cookies. (THAT is supposed to taste good?) In addition, a number of books just could not serve up recipes that I missed. I could not pretend that I longed for flavorless-but-it-might-pass-if-we-hope-hard-enough pound cake with no ingredients that matched my beloved tried and true recipes.
So, FORGET IT. THIS BOOK IS ALL YOU NEED.
Annalise is just amazing. The recipes are fabulous (I MISSED the lemon bars) and with the exception of a flour blend by Authentic Foods and some Xanthan Gum, everything can be bought at the grocery store because they are...ahem...REAL ingredients. You know, eggs, butter, sugar, etc.
Yes, you have to order the flour (though some stores carry it, just not by me)but that really is the only compromise you have to make. And, let's face it, if you are GF, this is one of the more painless compromises out there.
You will not be disappointed, I can pretty much guarantee it. Other missed recipes include sugar cookies (what kid doesn't want them) and...gasp...BREAD! Bread you can eat! Bread that does not crumble!
To that end, I will also say that if you are a parent of a child with allergies or intolerance to
gluten
, you need this book. Your kid will not have to go without, and for that Ms. Roberts deserves her medal.

One word: WOW!
When I was told I had to go
gluten
-
free
I thought, "Oh no, what about
baking
?" I loooove baking. So I did some research and saw that this book had all excellent reviews on Amazon. So I tried it out. And boy am I glad I did. My husband, who is gluten-tolerant, said the oatmeal raisin cookies are the best he's ever had (I agree), and he doesn't normally even like oatmeal raisin! We most recently had the vanilla pound cake...moist and also better than the glutenous version. I started bringing baked goods into work and my co-workers couldn't believe
gluten-free
is good! One of my co-workers even bought this book, even though she is gluten-tolerant, because everything is just better! (Not to mention that even though desserts aren't "healthy," these are at least "healthier" than glutenous ones. Since I'm fairly new to being gluten-free, I appreciated not only the recipes themselves, but helpful hints and little tidbits and stories from Annalise for each recipe and in the intro of the book. I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE...even you gluten-eaters!

A Life Saver
This cookbook was a life saver for my family. We had to put the whole family on a
gluten
free diet
because our 18 year old son was diagnosed three years ago and since then our daughter. This cookbook of which I have personally bought 6 copies and given out to friends as gifts. This is the easiest and the tastiest recipes I have found. My family loves everything I have made and have learned to cook gluten free for themselves by using this cookbook. I have personally talked with Annalise Roberts on the phone and she is a wonderful help. Thank you, Annalise!
