Interesting read
Very interesting read. Just enough info to encourage further study. Index is helpful. Religion segments alarmingly skewed toward Christianity.
Overall, not bad...
I'm unsure about all the "spiritual refreshing" hype (whatever that means), but overall this is a book worth reading. Only issue I had: the fixation on Christianity is a bit annoying - I was hoping for a broader spectrum of religions.

Interesting but annoying also
I'm about halfway through the Intellectual
Devotional
and like the content very much. However, I'm annoyed by the large number of errors, mostly but not all typographical. For example, in the entry on Peter the Great (1682-1725) the author tells us that "Peter's ancestors ruled Russia until the revolution in 1917." It doesn't take much editorial attention to catch things like that.
I also have to change the glasses I normally read with so that I can read the very small print in the last section of each page.
Despite these distractions, I am continuing to read the book and benefit from what I am learning.

Delivers on Its Promise
This is a great book and basically accomplishes what it sets out to do. My wife and I read it every night together and have enjoyed the discussion it sometimes stirs up.
My only complaint is that the music topics are very poorly executed, almost to the point that we would prefer to skip them
complete
ly. With few exceptions, the music topics are not appropriate for beginners, especially when they delve into aspects of music theory. I graduated at the top of my college
class
, and some of the music material sounds like gibberish to me. It's just not accessible to the uninitiated, often retreating into jargon-dense paragraphs of meaningless explanation.
Otherwise, highly recommended! We'll buy the sequel if it ever comes out.

Sharpen your mind daily
I love this little book. It is chock full of tid-bits of knowledge I never knew, and never really cared about before I read this book. It is broken into seven sections and you get a different section for each day of the week. I would suggest it to anyone you loves little bits of information.
