Very good History book with one major defect: NO PICTURES
This is a wonderful and very well written book. Its prose is very appealing, but it has a major defect: it lacks pictures. I have a 7 year old
child
who loves to read and be read. He likes all kinds of books, especially Hi
story
..., but he also likes to see pictures when he reads. He likes to see the different coffins where a pharoh was put in after his death, he likes to see the shaddur to understand how it works, and so on. In order that I read
from this
book, I have to promise him that we will read from the Usborne
World History
immediately after. If he is to chose, he would only read the Usborne World History. (sorry for my grammar, English is my second language)

Great History Curriculum
This curriculum has wonderful craft and activity ideas to go along with each chapter. The lessons are short and interesting. It is simple enough for very young
child
ren to enjoy, but plenty of material is provided for older students to dig deeper and do work on their own.

Story of the World
I'm homeschooling my 4th and 5th grader this year and have found the book completely adaptable for their age level. Even though they both read very well, we turn their hi
story lesson
into a story time and they hang on every word. The suggested activities are great and I really appreciate the additional recommended reading and literature lists.

Wonderful history book!
This is a "living book" for hi
story
at its best! Naturally it cannot contain EVERYTHING one might want in an ancient
times history
text, it does a WONDERFUL job of bringing history to life for
children ages
6-12! I was unsure about this series at first, but once we got into the 1st book, we were hooked! We added some other resources into our study (to fill-in some gaps) and also used the activities book that is available. All-in-all, this is a nice, solid anicient history book for children and while it won't fit all families, it was exactly what we were looking for. :o)
