Beverly has given us another excellent book. 
Beverly Jenkins has given readers and her fans in particular, another African American historical romance novel, that sizzles with a "true reader's recipe for a great book". This extremely gifted and talented novelist glides the reader through the hero and heroines' conflicts, inspirations and acceptance of love with such ease. Jenkins is remarkable in that, she is able to blend romance with authentic factual history and keep the reader immersed with, the truth of the time period she writes about. Beverly's characters have such credence, I know of no other writer, whose romantic historical characters are as; charming, humorous, witty, down-to-earth and naturally loving and sensual. When you engage in a Jenkins' novel, prepare yourself for an "entire read, not a fragmented one", for she keeps your fingers turning the pages, until you are done and cheering for the hero and heroine.
I read this book in a day and a half!
I have been a fan of Beverly Jenkins's novels since Night Song. I have just finished reading The Taming of Jessi Rose and I knew I had to write. I think there are one or two of your books I have not read (simply because I did not know they existed). I look for your name whenever I visit my local bookstores and most of the time, your titles are sold out. I no longer read the summary on the back of your novels to see if it's a story I'm interested in. If it has your name on it, I just pick it up and put it in my cart. (I read a lot of books and I have one or two favorite authors - Yours is the only book I buy by virtue of your name alone.) I appreciate the amount of research that you must do to write such wonderful historical romances. Your hard work shows in the effortless way you seem to weave historical details into the fabric of the love story, making it entertaining, while at the same time, giving the story substance. I also appreciate the fact that your work is not littered with the amount of profanity that seems to be so prevalent in stories about black people. I loved Jessi Rose. This story was different from any other I've read. You managed to take four outlaws and turn them into lovable men with colorful personalities, each one of them I would like to know better. I'd be interested to read more about the "Terrible Twins". What kind of woman would it take to turn them on the path of the straight and narrow? I hope you continue to write. You have a wonderful talent for storytelling and keeping your reader enthralled. As far as I'm concerned, you are the best! I agree with the Detroit Free Press. You are definitely on your way to superstar status. You deserve it.
If you like romance this is a must read
Beverly you've done it again girl. Jessi Rose is a BIG hit in my book. I began reading romance in my preteen years and 31 years and many many books later I still love a good old spicy romance. I have read all but one of your books (Vivid). I love your style of writing, the history and especially the romance. Thank you for putting the race, our history and our historical contributions to society out there for those of use who enjoy reading romance and advanture. Now girlfriend stop the suspense already and let us know what's going on with Blake and Grace.

Beverly Jenkins is a classy historical novelist. I enjoyed each and every book she has ever written. I highly recommend this book and all of her other books. I agree with one of the previous reviews... the cover models should match the descriptions of the characters. Overall, Great Job Beverly!

Well Beverly Jenkins has done it again. This book just had me wanting more. The differrent interactions of relationships in this book was incredible. Father to daughter, father to son, neighbor to neighbor and male to female and many others. Not to mention the history in this book. My goodness. I must say also that for the love scences you needed to show id. This book is a must read. I would like to have me an outlawed cowboy if he fit the descripton of Griff in this book. Send me a Griff or set of Twins anyday. Way to go Beverly....Oh yeah and please dont make us wait another whole year to read another one.
