Best 'Thesis' Ever!
Written like a 'thesis' (not surprising due to the nature of the authors) but styled in amazing readability. You get a convincing book, thoroughly researched and unbiasedly presented cases for the enduring
companies
. You could fall asleep on most thesis for non-scholarly dudes like myself but this kept me turning the pages despite being sleepy as hell from the day's work. BUY IT for the value of their research if not an inspiring book for business-owners!
A Must-Read for Business Executive
I read this book 2 years ago with great excitement. Now having significantly progressed in my career I found this book even more meaningful. It was a great handbook for business executives worldwide to build great
companies
. I recommend it to anybody who is serious about not making quick money, but building sustainable businesses that
last
and last.

A classic...
A pathbreaking book that outlines how to build landmark
companies that
stand the test of time. Collins and Porras asked themselves a crucial question: 'What makes the truly exceptional companies different from the other companies?' - by answering which, the authors have gone beyond the incessant barrage of management buzzwords and newfound fads to discover timeless qualities that have and consistently will distinguish outstanding companies. They provide inspiration to entrepreneurs by destroying the false but widely accepted idea that only charismatic
visionary leaders
can build visionary companies. What is striking about this book is that though an academic treatise, it is superbly written and an exciting read. You could fall asleep on most thesis but this one kept me turning the pages despite being sleepy from a long day's work. I would recommend it to anyone who is serious not about making a quick buck, but about building a business that

what a creative exploration!
Mr. Collins here is able to spot the need of organizations nowadays. Just like human, we find the fact that organizations in itself is also mortal. They can die (bankrupt), eaten up (acquired), or even merged. The bottom line is, they won't
last long
if they're just being ordinary. That separates the good ones from the great ones.
As Mr. Collins had concluded from his research, there are certain similarities between some of the great
companies
(e.g. IBM, General Electric, 3M, Boeing, Procter & Gamble, etc.), which he further implied is also applicable to any organization nowadays. He gave the examples in his book which shows that even those great companies didn't always start out as a good or healthy company. Such as Sony, he said that it was a company which was started just in a garage, but with the greatest of idea, and that was what makes it great. He also gave the example of Boeing, a company who bet their future in a single, large, but very risky project which could've bankrupted the whole company.
You will all find his examples interesting. I get a very valuable knowledge from this particular book. I find that this book is able to fulfill the needs of anyone's dream for a lasting organization. For you people, who dreams about leaving a legacy for the future beyond your mortal life, this book shall definitely be a MUST READ. Okay!
