My absolute favorite book as a child!

When I read this book as a child, I knew it was something special! I think I did a total of 5 book reports on it throughout my elementary school years. I've been looking in every old bookstore for years and thought I would never see it again! That's why when I finally found it on Amazon, I ordered two copies! Every young girl should read this book, or even better, every mother should read this to their daughters! Because of this book, I never gave up trying to kiss my elbows or fly. Hold your breath and see if you have better luck than me.

This was my favorite book as a child!!!!

I read this book so many times as a child. I couldn't get enough of it! I think every child dreams of being able to fly & of having a special playmate - that's why this book is so appealing! I always wanted to just jump right into the pages of this book and be Annabel. I can't wait to read it again as an adult!

I finally found it again!!

I was just reading all of the reviews of this wonderful book and had to add my praise. I read it in first or second grade, and loved it so much that I was constantly checking it out from the school library; then, as now, I recommended books and for several years it was on the constant reserve list as we read it over and over. My parents probably would have bought it for me, but we could never find it in our bookstore. I've been looking all of these years to find it again so that when I have children, they will be able to share in the joy of fairies and laugh so hard that they feel they will fly from the shear pleasure of it! Thank you Amazon! (Just out of curiosity, is there anyone who knows the name of a series about 5 Jewish girls who lived in NYC near the turn of the century? They had names like boys (shortened versions)- I think something like Georgie and such. If you do, PLEASE email me!)

My mother and I didn't want the book to end.

No Flying in the House is about a girl and her dog, Gloria, who turns out to be her Fairy mother's best friend who is trying to reverse the spell of an evil cat in an Enchanted Land.

They live together with a wealthy, spoiled woman who collects antiques, who decides to collect Gloria because she discovers she can talk.

It's hard to explain exactly why the story is so wonderful and funny, and why by the end of the story we had about a million questions we still wanted answers to, and why I immediately gave the book to my close friend to read, and why I wish we kind of hadn't because we'd like to read it again.
