Very good book, but 15 minutes a week???

Ok, I think everybody here knows Wall Street does not care about you, they only care about getting your money. Your 401K will probably not lead you to everlasting financial security. Your broker does not lay awake at night thinking of ways to make you money. Speaking of brokers, ask them some tough questions and watch them squirm. Ask specifics about derivatives, which nobody understands, heres a good place to learn Traders, Guns & Money: Knowns and unknowns in the dazzling world of derivatives

You really have to take control of your financial security. For some it will be easy, because investing is fun, for others it will be hell. Phils book lays out one of the simplest plans I have seen. All you need to do is follow his plan and have a lot of patience. The trades do not show up every day, week, or even month, but they do show up and if you are ready you can profit from them easily.

I think Phils claim that it will only take 15 minutes a week is a bit of a stretch. Maybe after you spend a few hours narrowing down to your short list of companies to monitor it may be 15 minutes a week, but I have not reached that point yet. I have been spending about 20-30 minutes a day researching companies. I usually find 1-2 companies I like every single day. I run the numbers, put them on my watch list, then wait for them to enter into my margin of safety. I have placed three trades using this method and all three have made money. I have also traded about fifteen companies in my primary account that looked really good, but have not met Phils requirements. Fourteen of those made money.

This is not a get rich quick program. It will take some time and effort to make this work. Its not hard work, and it won't take you an inordinate amount of time to accomplish. But it will take time and effort. But then again, what doesn't?

Buffett, step by step...

The man is not inventing anything. He "transcribes" Warren's teachings in a way "anybody" can "GET IT". Better yet, teaches the reader how to think like Mr. Buffet. It makes so much sence, it's scarry!

Straight scoop from one who has done it.

Phil Town learned investing from a mentor--here he offers to mentor us. Most of the book is his story followed by directions on how to do what he did. He describes how to select and manage investments. The book also includes some technical explanations so the reader can understand what financial people are talking about. I borrowed a friend's book, read it and decided I needed my own copy. This book should get much more exposure than it has already received. This would be a great starting point for investment clubs or those individuals who want to become knowledgeable and skilled investors.
