Cross is back and better than ever!
Kyle Craig--the Mastermind--return again in this latest
Alex
Cross
mystery from the prolific Patterson. Craig, the former FBI honcho whom Alex unmasked as a serial killer several books ago, has been quietly serving his time in a super-maximum-security prison. Kyle may be passive on the outside, but his fertile mind has been hatching another elaborate plot and seemingly impossible plot: To walk out of his impenetrable cell and go after Alex Cross and his family.
Meanwhile, the retired Cross returns to the police payroll when his charming new girlfriend, Brianna Stone, heads up the investigation of a new killer in the DC area. The murders are staged as real showpieces, Grand Guignol for large public audiences. These vicious crimes seem designed for maximum shock value and television coverage. Who is the fearless villain who places himself at the center of these horrifying spectacles, only to vanish before capture, leaving behind tantalizing clues. Can he possibly be connected to the escape of Kyle Craig. These and other questions haunt Cross, Stone, and their fellow detectives as the body count rises and Kyle Craig gets closer and closer to Alex and his family.
This is Patterson at his most satifying: Much-beloved characters placed in outrageous and terrifying situations with little hope of escape. The pace builds steadily until you will find yourself flipping the pages as quickly as possibility to get to the thrilling conclusion. Sure, there is one plot device early in the book that was only really successful on the old Mission: Impossible show, but you'll forgive that small lapse in believability quickly as this story wraps its arms around you in a choke-hold and threatens to never let go.

A Winner!
Another good one by James Patterson. I knocked this one off during a business trip to Cleveland. Perfect airport/hotel reading. Fast paced with solid plots & story lines.
Double
Cross
is clearly a winner.
