A masterpiece of science-fiction by Lovecraft
As The Dream Quest for Unknown Kadath is Lovecraft's most magical work, At the
Mountains
of Maddness is his most compelling science-fiction novel. Suggested no doubt by Byrd's expeditions, it plunges even further and deeper into a vista of the past, of space, and of chilling dread. And then-- we're at South Station Under! A master.
eclectic mix of horror and fantasy
Everything you expect from Lovecraft, and some stuff that's just plain weird. Even some 1930's style amazing stories.

A defining work of Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos
This novella is one of the most important works of Lovecraft's. A budding Lovecraft follower can expect from this title a relatively clear description of Lovecraft's history of the world, and how his various "gods" fit into the scheme of our planets history. The
other
tales
in the book give a good idea of the general flavor of Lovecraft's writing, and are an enjoyable, short read.

Masterfully, unquestionably, Lovecraftian !
This collection of dark, unworldly, horror highlights the myriad
of talents which set H.P.Lovecraft apart from his contemporaries.
The true master of the macabre again demonstrates his uncanny ability
to draw the reader into his haunting mythos and never miss a beat.
Cthulhu comes alive ..too bad for us.
Perhaps the best horror story ever written!
H. P. Lovecraft's "At The
Mountains
Of
Madness
" could be the best horror story ever written. For the time period it was written in it is unsurpassed. For originality of the storyline and the sheer
terror
it inspires it stands next to if not above Stoker's "Dracula", and Stephen King's "The Shining". Lovecraft boldly went where few
other writer's
dared to follow by creating an entire Universe of unspeakable horrors. The mastery of his chosen craft lies in his ability to hint subliminally at the fears he was writing about, then letting his reader's imagination take over from there. Serious students of the Horror and Supernatural genre who overlook Lovecraft have missed the entire boat. Read and enjoy this book and Lovecraft's other stories but be careful, the fear you find will be in your own mind. Happy Halloween!
