THIS IS THE VHS MOVIE, PLEASE READ THE PRODUCT DETAILS

Can the book reviewers please pay attention. This area is not for the book, this is the VHS movie section. You will notice the product area shows this to be the 1998 feature film that is 99 minutes long and on VHS tape. I see many book reviews, but not a single movie review. I'm glad everyone liked the book, but we need to see if the movie is any good here. I am sure it has alot going for it based upon the book, but I have seen some movies do a terrible job. What about this VHS movie? Has anyone actually seen it? Also can someone tell me how to get people to sell it for a reasonable price. Used rental copies for $22 to 125 is outrageous. One can only hope it comes out on DVD and these scalpers lose money.

This book, Island of the Blue Dolphins, is written by Scott O'Dell. Personally, I thought this book was pretty good, just not the best in the world. I rate Island of the Blue Dolphins about 4 stars. It is about a girl named Karana who lives on an island shaped, as described in the book, like a fish sunning itself.
In the village of Ghalas-at, Karana encounters strange ships coming towards the island. It was the Aleuts coming to hunt otter. Her father, the chief, lets them make camp until they are gone, as long as he gets half of the otter. However, they do not give him his share of the bargain and the village has a fight. Most of the village dies.
Later, ships come again. This time, they take the people from Karana's village and take them to a different place. Karana's little brother is left behind, so she dives into the water and stays on the island with him. Her brother unfortunately is killed by the wild dogs.
She stays on the island for about 18 years encountering many different obstacals. Will she ever be rescued? Will she reunite with her village? In order to find out, you must read this book. I hope you like it!

My Reveiw on the book

This book is very dramatic, and a lot of people who like suspence will absolutly LOVE this book. It is about a girl and her name is Karana (Ka-ran-a) and she has lived on an island almost all of her life. Her dad was the cheif of the indian tribe that lived with her. One day a man with a boat that had red sails comes and makes a deal with her dad. Her dad agrees to the
deal, but the ,man does not keep his end of the deal so they have a war and in that war the men kill her father. While her brother Ramo, her sister and her are watching. A few years pass by and another pair of men visit the island whom on their ship have white sails and they volenter to take them with them so they go but her brother gets left behind. She jumps off the ship and saves her brother. I think that this book is a story about love and compasion.

On the island Karana befriends many animals and survives in the uniquie ways of her tribe. Will Karana survive? Will she make it back to her tribe? Island of the Blue Dolphins is an exciting book that everyone should read.
