Take me away... again

I've been looking for The Velvet Room, which I read in fifth or sixth grade (I'm now 38) for my daughter. I want to pass on to her the "can't put it down" feeling you get from a good book. Secrets, mystery, magic... all of these elements are present in The Velvet Room. I want my daughter to be able to escape to a quiet corner and enjoy this experience (and me again, too!) But where can I get it?

Magic for a young girl

This is one of those rare childrens books (probably most interesting to girls who are 9-12 years of age) that creates a world of imagination and wonder, without fear or violence. Thirty years later I still remember the fascination I felt with this book. I want very badly for my own daughter to be able to read this wonderful story.

This is the best book I've ever read!

I read this book when I was in the 5th grade. I loved how it had a wonderful mystery side to it and also it was a very happy book. I would recomend this to people of all ages!

Very rememberable

I read this book about 20 years ago and still remember certain specifics and the feeling I had when I read it. I've been searching for this book and was very sad when I found out it had been discontinued. I very much would like my own copy to share with my children one day. Publishers, please bring it back!

my favorite book growing up

I can only echo what others have said. I do not know how many times I read this when I was younger, but I will never forget this book. I too am desperately seeking a copy for my daughter, but am not ready to pay $75 or more for it (the prices I have seen quoted for it as a used book). This book deserves to be back in print, so a new generation of children can read and enjoy it.
