Just getting better

I loved the take on a classic fairy tale creature and giving it a new twist. The basic story was good and left me wanting the next book.

best book in this series so far!

I think Jim Butcher gets better with every book he writes. My only complaint is I am ready for another one!

First Sentence: Winter came early that year; it should have been a tip-off.

Wizard Harry Dresden is having an enjoyable snowball fight with his apprentice and her siblings. It comes to an abrupt, and violent, end when they are attacked by three Billy Goats Gruff. These are no mild fairytale creatures and Queen Mab is calling in one of the favor's Harry owes her.

With a missing mobster, creatures galore and even his friends not quite trusting him, Harry has to fight to save himself and those important to him.

Once you get past the oozy, gory descriptions, these are great books. The character of Harry is a wonderful one--he's tough, loyal, brave, dedicated and has a wicked, wry humor. Even though this is part of a series, there is always enough back story so you understand the relationships.

This book was a real page-turner. It is, sometimes, hard to keep track, among the fantasy creatures, of who is whom, and on whose side, but the action just keep you going.

The story is not cliché and some of the more real characters have a strong moral code. For me, these books are always a treat to read.

Another Jim Butcher Masterpiece!

I have read every book or comic associated with Jim Butcher and each book or story is as good or better than the last! From the Dresden File's to The Furies series his writing just gets better and better with each sequel. The newest Dresden book, Small Favor, literally kept me up throughout the night turning page after page. There should be a warning: Caution reading this title may be addictive and cause lack of sleep and possible drowsiness due to intense plots and extraordinary characters. Read at your own risk! Another Jim Butcher masterpiece!

Dresden Files

I have read every one of the Dresden Files Books by Jim Butcher. Love them. I got acqainted with his character Harry Dresden when the SciFi channel did a series based on these books. Each one is better and better. Word to the wise....read these books in numerical order in order to enjoy to the fullest extent. I love the recurring characters, Dresden's sense of humor, etc.
