in my (humble but professional) opinion

Honestly, Karen Kingston's classic is the only book I recommend to my clients. Most clutterer's have a slew of unread organizing books, just collecting dust and contributing to their sense of overwhelm and shame.

Here's my advice: toss all those books OUT! Get a copy of Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui. Read it, read it again. Pass it on to a friend.

I hadn't read Kingston's words in several years and a few months ago, I wanted to find a quote for a talk I was giving. I couldn't put this little book down and it reminded me how inspired I was when first starting my organizing business in 1998. Up until that point, organizing was just about moving people's stuff around so that it fit in a more aesthetic manner. Post-Kingston, organizing revealed itself as an internal job, way more about the energy in people's home and lives, about the current that runs through their hearts and minds. I can honestly say that Karen Kingston's book changed the course of my life and that of my clients in a fundamental way.

I now have a blog called "It's Not About Your Stuff", which has as it's undercurrent (and at the top of the recommended reading list!), Kingston's powerful perspective and philosophy.

Bottom Line for clutterers: toss out all the others and read THIS book!

Changed my life

I have had the same experience as several of my friends who listened to these tapes. Went home and started clutter clearing and haven't stopped.

Her gentle voice and devasting logic ("why shouldn't you be surrounded, in your home, only by things you love?") make this a keeper.

Clutter be gone

I found the information in Karen Kingston's book to be inspiring. We are well on our way to clearing our spaces now. The last part in the book about cleansing to be very beneficial. It has changed the way I look at food. Plus the raising of the arms works great.

Truly Inspiring! A clutter-free advice.

This book not only motivates me to clear clutters, but it also changes the way I think about my living space, my belongings, and my life. Instead of giving silly tips and how-to's, (such as, move what to which corner of the room, buy what kind of incense burners...etc) the book tries quite successfully to revolutionize the way people view and connect to material possessions in their lives.

Karen Kingston is a very thoughtful and convincing writer. You will enjoy her earnest, inspiring, and sometimes witty advice. The book is so well organized, and unlike a regular how-to books it is a pleasure to read.

This is a small book that has so much to offer. This book will never turn into a clutter itself on my shelf long after I clear all my clutters.

Inspring to the Nth degree!!!

GREAT BOOK! Oh my gosh! I have been tearing apart closets and rooms. It inspired me to get rid of so much stuff that we never use. We are turning my old studio/ office/ junk room/ closet into a den. We took an entire Volvo full to Goodwill. Even if you are Nancy Neat, I would recommend this book! It is positively fabulous and inspiring.
