Interesting but somewhat disappointing.

Being a major Osmond fan throughout my younger teen years, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. The "real" story about the "real" Donny Osmond sounded intriguing and something an old faithful fan would want to read. Yes, there were some very interesting stories and things I never realized or heard of, but I still felt it was a little too sugar-coated. He only touched the surface on the facts that most people would want to read about, i.e. his relationship with his parents or with his brothers. I was shocked that he and his brothers aren't and never really were all that close. What an illusion that turned out to be. Or that his family lost their fortune. A lot more detail was needed. The poor guy never even got a chance to verbalize himself. I wasn't looking for a dirty little tell-all book, because that certainly isn't the Osmond style, but just skimming the surface left the reader wanting more - I felt a lot more. The book was good, I'm glad I read it, but when I finished it, I was left wanting more.

I couldn't put it down!!!

I have always loved the Osmonds and admired them so. I now have an even greater appreciation and respect for Donny. He is such a down to earth person, a regular guy who seems to have had ups and downs like the rest of us and perhaps not as great of a childhood as we may have thought. But, like his book states, "Life is what you make of it" and that is so true in his case. I just wish him the best for he and his family always. Stay positive, Donny!!

The joy and pain and joy and pain of Donny Osmond

A very honest portrait of a star who was tossed aside when the world of show business decided it had had enough of Donny. The most interesting part of this portrait is the pain Donny experienced throughout his life, which is more apparent through what's not written than what is. He's so easy to like. Biggest disappointment is that there is not a big enough emotional catharsis. He seemed to get over his anxiety disorder rather quickly, although in real life, I'm sure it was a painful road to recovery. Also, my only question was --- if he was bankrupt and didn't have any money coming in, how did he support his family and who paid for his travel around the country? It never seemed that Donny was ever down and out --- just not in the celebrity limelight. Still, this is a great read and makes you want to call Donny up on the phone and invite him over for a piece of cake.

Donny......Thanks for a Wonderful book!

I just finished reading the book and I really didn't know alot about Donny, I found him just an honest guy making a living for his family and wanting to be good at it! Donny, don't ever let anyone tell you that you are not a worthwhile person because me and the world knows now, through your book, that you are a truly awesome person. Thanks for a great book and from one LDS to another, GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WONDERFUL LOVING FAMILY!!!!!My favorite part in the book is when you said "Find the good things in people vs pointing out what they did wrong! Again, THANKS!END

We Need more Donny Osmonds in this world.

I applaud Donny. I read his book within 2 days and I started reading it again. As a child in the 60's I was teased for loving Donny and I don't regret it. Admiring and following the Osmond family, and the support of my own loving family, kept me straight and out of trouble all my life. Donny shouldn't have to be embarassed about being Donny Osmond. With the way children are teased and abused and victimized by other children in today's world, the kids today should read his book and learn how such actions could affect someone. If they are the ones being teased, then follow his footsteps in dealing with verbal and emotional abuse by society. Maybe if more people read his book they will think twice about not accepting people for who they are. I hope Donny writes additional books in the future, he is as talented in writing as he is in entertaining.
