The Girlfriends' Guide to Twins!

A great book that addresses a much-needed topic. It's a quick read, but that doesn't mean it is light on helpful insight. It's written in a positive style ("You *will* survive, things *will* get better"). Not sure that we'll be making our own baby food, but at least that's included in the Appendices. Overall a highly recommended book for parents expecting twins (or more!) or those with recently delivered multiples at home.

Funny, but a bit overwhelming for expectant moms

Although I found many of her anecdotes funny, I walked away from this book feeling more overwhelmed than I did before I picked it up. Perhaps it was because the book assumes that, like the author, all moms of twins are able to quit work to take care of their babies full time. As a soon-to-be working mother of twins, I felt like I won't be able to handle it all, because I won't be able to do everything she describes. If you are looking for a reassuring book about raising twins, look elsewhere on Amazon.

A fun, reassuring, helpful read

After reading many, maybe all, books on parenting twins, I was beginning to wonder where the fun was in the process of twin rearing. I was particularly dissappointed with "The Joy of Twins" and thought it should have been called "The Misery of Twins" for all the joy it communicated.

Reading "Ready or Not" felt like talking to a good freind; reassuring, funny and full of practical advice.

Didn't scare me

I got about every twin book available (like most people). Being a first time mom most of them scared me with medical things that granted I need to know all of the maybes but I wanted a book to give me real life "short cuts"
She gave me info that I really plan on using (the mini fridge) and made me giggle a few times. I gave the book to my mom to read and she is enjoying it also. I wouldn't just get this book but it is a great book to read in 2 days and keep around for helpful hints.

Inspirational, informative,...and FUNNY!

Liz Lyons tells it "like it is" in this truly essential book. She and her "sorority" have lived the twins adventure and share lots of time-saving -- and sanity-saving! -- practical suggestions to help you survive your first year, too. I only wish I'd read the whole book before our twin boys arrived; but again Liz comes through by organizing the book in 3-month segments so I could keep up as each new stage approached. Even if I didn't follow all her suggestions, the extensive list of topics she covers at least got us thinking and my husband and I found the strategies that worked for us. I've recommended this book to every parent I know who is expecting twins - and actually given it to two of them. She inspired me to try making our own baby food -- if SHE can do it with twins in tow, so can I! -- and following her helpful tips meant it TRULY is as easy as she says it is. Her down-to-earth, humorous approach will keep you balanced and smiling, reminding you of the double-blessing life with twins can be.
