Pronoia

Amazing. I was just thinking the same thoughts! Actually quite a bit of it makes a lot of sense. There is a bit of "weirdness' to it, but since I'm a bit weird myself, I kind of like it. I'm recommending it to a few select friends, folks that are as "strange and wonderful" as I am.

good, inspiring fun

Pronoia reminded me of the Illuminatus Trilogy without the darkness -- a worthwhile read to renew your faith in the world. It's a bit much as a straight-through read, but perfect for leaving in the bathroom for little kick starts and inspirations. Fans of the Principia Discordia will be right at home.

My new favorite book

This book is the closest thing to Burning Man I've found outside of Burning Man, in a book. My mission this year is to promote this book, to get it into as many people's hands as I can, instead of buying myself more 'self-help' books. This book has enough positivity in it to begin to offset the negativity we're pounded with every day by our media - that alone can help lift people's self-esteem and help them begin thinking for themselves. It's a work of art with lots of unique adjectives - just by reading it you'll want to improve your vocabulary, at the very least. There's something in this for everyone, readable either front to back or at random. At the very least it may remind you that you are a unique being, on this planet for a brief time, and to make the most of your experience. It's a book about living life to the fullest, thinking for yourself, and challenging all ideas, even your own.

Pro-Brezsny

What a wonderful book. I have only read it in parts so far, using a haphazard approach, and have enjoyed every single moment of insanity. It isn't for everyone- it asks you to think outside the box, to be different, and some folks are not ready for that quite yet. They will jump in to the void when it is their time.
In the meantime, the rest of us can thank the Gods for Rob Brezsny and his ability to find hopeful vision in a world geared to the exact opposite. If you would like to be able to get out of bed happy for a change for all that life has offered you, read this book.
