Disappointing ending

I tried this book since I got it for free. It was pretty interesting throughout bringing out some great ideas and concepts, however the ending was a huge disappointment for me. It just ended and nothing was really concluded. The whole theme through the book was never really resolved and I finished the book without any feeling of enjoyment. I said "that's it???, what a waste of time"

The author could have concluded better in my opinion or closed some tangent story lines that was introduced.

Satisfying, but this calls for another sequel!

Iris Johansen scores another win with "Countdown". The book was interesting and kept me reading. I enjoyed the twists and turns where the reader is led to believe one thing when, in reality, nothing is as it seems. For those readers who are fans of the show "24", this book will give you that same feeling. You may think you have it all figured out, but then there is a twist that sends you off in another direction.
The end leaves you wondering too, and we as readers have been set up (I believe). While the storyline came to a conclusion, there were several unanswered secondary questions that beg for another book.
My only criticism of this book would be the way it was billed. This book's cover notes it is part of the "Eve Duncan" series, but it is not an Eve Duncan centered book. If this book were a movie, Eve would have been considered a minor role and Joe would have been a cameo. This book centers on Jane and her world, which is fine. Jane has been an interesting character since she first appeared and her character is quite multifacted as we discover. But if you are buying this book because you want an Eve Duncan centered story, you will be disappointed. There is not enough of her to satisfy that Eve Duncan quench. However, Johansen may have her reasons for moving Eve into a back burner character. Eve has sufferd through the loss of her daughter, the near loss of her adopted daughter Jane, relationship issues with Joe and her mother, and taking on seriel killers. Johansen may feel that she has taken Eve as far as she can. Perhaps now, it is time to develop some other characters in that world.
I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing another book about John Logan and Sarah.
