All I can say is WOW!!

I have read a lot of books in my time, but I have not read such a heart-tugging, captivating book like this one. I would go as far as to say it is a better love story than Gone with the Wind or the Notebook!

The Best of Christian Fiction

I first read this book back when I was in high school (almost ten years ago). This book is by far the best Christian fiction book that I have ever read, and I have read a lot. The characters are well developed, and you find yourself aching for them throughout the story. A friend had told me about this book, and it sounded interesting to me. When I got the book, I could not put it down. I cried like a baby all through the last chapter. Needless to say, I have read this book again numerous times over the years. Just the other day, I was recommending this book to one of my high school students, and now I find myself having to take it from my bookshelf once again to read it.

A beautiful story

This book sits on my keeper shelf and will remain there. I have lent it to many of my friends to read and if it is at some point not returned, I will buy a new copy. A beautiful reminder of God's love for his children.

This is absolutely the best love story I have ever read. I've never been moved so deeply by the desperate need and desire of a man to wait for "the one" God chose for him. The depth of true and unconditional love of a man for a woman AND for his willingness to listen for and obey God's voice, just gripped my heart. Hosea is a short but very powerful book of the Bible and Francine Rivers did a beautiful job making it come to life. Not only does it portray the purity of what earthly love was meant to be but it also portrays Michael Hosea as an example of Jesus' personal love for each and every one of us in that He is willing to wait for us no matter how long it takes.

This book opened my eyes

I have never read a book that was based on a life generations ago that has such meaning today. I have read the book of Hosea in the Old Testament and this novel really brings it to life in a new text. Often I've wondered why the wife would go back to such poverty and despair, and Ms. Rivers brings to the forefront the raw emotions and illogical thoughts of someone who has been abused and misused. It has immeasurably helped me in my understanding of human reactions and decisions. My husband is a pastor and we see all kinds of humanity. This book has opened my eyes and caused me to look into the hearts of people. Behind every torn life and broken spirit is a soul that needs compassion and understanding. Thank you Ms. Rivers for just enough detail to get the point across, but not so much as to turn readers away.
