A novel with characters you'll really care about...
Like all of Weiner's
novel
s, I loved this one. But I think I liked it even better than her previous ones. Another reviewer mentioned this being great chick-lit for those of us who were entering mommy hood, and maybe one of the reasons that I loved it so much was that I read it while pregnant (and in Philly visiting a friend, no less), so I had that connection too.
But more than anything else, I think this was such a good book because Weiner is amazingly adept at taking bits and pieces of reality and making engaging and believable fictional characters - one of which is always, at least a
little bit
, reflective of herself. Here, Weiner takes four new moms with radically different lives and stories and intertwines them fluidly. At the beginning of the book the four could not be more different, but as their stories progress the experience of being new moms at the same time draws them together. The friendships they form are real, and are definitely akin to the real life relationships that new moms (who might not have anything else in common besides the fact that they gave birth around the same time as each other) form after their babies are born. Additionally, the story has a little bit of mystery, a villain (or two), and four imperfect friends and their equally imperfect husbands, which come together to make for very believable relationships.
Overall, an excellent book.

We just clicked!
Have you ever read a book where you felt that you, and it just clicked? Well that is how I felt about Jennifer Weiner's '
LITTLE
EARTHQUAKES
'. From the very first page I knew that I was going to love this book and I did from beginning to end.
'LITTLE EARTHQUAKES' is the story of four very different women who form a bond and a friendship over the ups and downs of new motherhood. Becky Rothstien-Robinowitz is trying to cope with the challenges of being a working mother as well as dealing with her mother-in-laws overbearing ways. However, her new friends teach her that her problems are no where near as bad as she thinks. Ayinde is beautiful, rich and married to the Philadelphia 76ers start player. From the outside it looks as though she has it all but soon her world is turned upside down, not only by her newborn son Julian but by her husbands infidelity as well. Kelly has had her life planned out since she was a little girl and thus far everything has gone according to plan. She has a successful husband and a successful career of her own. Now all she needs it the baby to round out her picture perfect life. But when her husband gets laid off and Kelly is forced to return to work earlier than expected she finds that the picture of her life is not so perfect after all. Then there is Lia, the mysterious woman who seems to be stalking Becky and her group of friends. But when the ladies find out Lia's secret it will bond these four women forever.
Jennifer Weiner is a great author with a great voice and I have never read a
novel
of hers that disappointed. LITTLE EARHTQUAKES' is a novel that explores not only new motherhood but also the relationships that women share with their mothers and trying to balance family and career. This is a novel that all women, not just mothers or mothers-to-be can relate to and it is definitely one of Weiner's best.

So easy to listen to, funny and Very moving
This is a review for the unabridged audo CD. This book was so easy to listen to. I felt I knew the characters from the first CD. This story is about several women and their journey into motherhood: how motherhood has changed them, and how it differs from what they had expected. Also the characters found that being a mom changed the way they viewed their own mothers, mother-in-laws, and husbands. As a mom I could really relate to this story in so many ways, but it was also a captivating, funny, and touching story for anyone. I would love to read(listen) to another book by this author and plan to do so soon!

Couldn't put it down!
This is the perfect book, for the "sex in the city" generation who are becoming Mommy's. I used to love all of the funny books about the single woman. Now there is a book for the next chapter in your life.I wish there were more non-fiction books about Mommies!!!
Sooooo Good!
This is the type of book you read quickly because you're so involved in the story that you can't wait to find out what happens next. This is also the kind of book that, when you get to the end, you miss the characters so much that you wish you'd read it more slowly so that you wouldn't be finished with it yet.
I actually went back to the beginning and started to read it again because I wasn't ready to say goodbye (and it was every bit as good the second time around)
