Very touching, A must for Dog lovers

This is a wonderful book. I couldn't put it down! It's a great book!! Highly reccomended!!

Marley and Me BY: Melissa C.

"Marley and Me" is an autobiography novel written by John Grogan. The author talks about his family's life during the thirteen years that they lived with their Labrador Retriever, Marley.
Marley wouldn't be considered the best dog, but Marley was their pride and joy. Marley, a ninety seven pound Labrador Retriever would always be running into screen doors, eating clothing, or anything he could get his teeth on. To guests that walked into the Grogan's home, they would be very scared by his size and how he acted. Even though Marley destroyed everything and didn't appeal to other people they still loved him.
The book shows you how much people love animals. Even though at times the Grogan family wanted to get rid of Marley. Marley would always make his way back into the family.
The book taught me many things. First, to always love your family. Even though at times Marley would cause many problems for the Grogan family, they still loved him. Second, to always take care of other people's property. Throughout the book, many of the problems were created because Marley destroyed the Grogan's house, love, and yard. Third, always be greatful for what you have. Even though the Gorgan's family wasn't perfect they always loved each other.
I would recommend this book to any animal lover. If you love learning, reading, and laughing about animals, this is the book for you. If I had to rate this book out of five I would rate it a four. At times in the book, it did get a little boring, but I think it is still worth reading.

Absolutely wonderful

This is a book I kept seeing in the stores and passing by, and finally recently picked it up and read a few pages. Right then I was hooked. I took it home and read the entire thing that night. I laughed out loud, and I cried too with this book. It takes you on this entire journey with this hilarious and loving dog. I also have a yellow lab, so I related to this book also very much. They're definitely different, and Grogan really captures that with this book.

BAD BAD DOG!!

Marley and Me was a very funny book. I started reading it after seeing all the reviews on it. While reading this book, I started thinking about my own dog, (not a labrador) and how he was almost similar. 30% the naughtiness of Marley. This book makes me laugh and assures me that I am not alone! The only bad thing I have to say about this book is that I don't think there was a climax to the book. The book was pretty much leveled out. With small rises and falls for the characters.

For the young at heart

I thoroughly enjoyed reading John Grogans thoughtful book! What a treasure it is when an author manages to inspire, engage, and enlighten their reader all in one writing. You'll have a constant tickle in your throat, whether from giggling one page reading about Marleys salt-water antics, or tearing up on the next reading about the challenges jenny faced. No matter which way you cut it, it is a book you won't want to put down, and you'll be a better person because of it. In the end grogan reminds us of the resilliance of the human spirit. Even while penning memories with the 'worlds worst dog' he laces them with humor, understanding, and warmth of the love of a friend. The reviews were right, it would truly take a heart of stone to resist Marley and Me.

P.S. - For those who are sentimental-- would reccomend not reading in public, in the last third of the book, once the tears start they won't stop!

The heartwarming and unforgettable story of a family in the making and the
wondrously neurotic dog who taught them what really matters in life

John and Jenny were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wiggly yellow furball of a puppy. Life would never be the same.

Marley quickly grew into a barreling, ninety-seven-pound streamroller of a Labrador retriever, a dog like no other. He crashed through screen doors, gouged through drywall, flung drool on guests, stole women's undergarments, and ate nearly everything he could get his mouth around, including couches and fine jewelry. Obedience school did no good?Marley was expelled. Neither did the tranquilizers the veterinarian prescribed for him with the admonishment, "Don't hesitate to use these."

And yet Marley's heart was pure. Just as he joyfully refused any limits on his behavior, his love and loyalty were boundless, too. Marley shared the couple's joy at their first pregnancy, and their heartbreak over the miscarriage. He was there when babies finally arrived and when the screams of a seventeen-year-old stabbing victim pierced the night. Marley shut down a public beach and managed to land a role in a feature-length movie, always winning hearts as he made a mess of things. Through it all, he remained steadfast, a model of devotion, even when his family was at its wit's end. Unconditional love, they would learn, comes in many forms.

Is it possible for humans to discover the key to happiness through a bigger-than-life, bad-boy dog? Just ask the Grogans.
