This is a great read!

Summer love, heartache, embarassing parents, friendship, and sibling rivalry, this book has it all. It took me right back to my 14th year. Ok, my parents didn't have naked swim parties but the novel touched home on so many other accounts. If you are looking for an easy read, humor, and something to talk about with your friends/bookclub then this is the one for you.Highly reccomended.

I'D GIVE THIS BOOK TEN STARS IF I COULD!

I love this book! The awkward sex scenes were fabulous. I loved the blast from the past.
Growing up on the East Coast I did not know how much fun they were having in California! My drug-filled teens did not compare to the excitment that the boys and girls were having in Santa Barbara.

A crack cocaine hit of a summer read

I had to ration this book so I wouldn't devour it too quickly.
Blau immerses you in the wide-eyed indulgences of another time and place and manages to make her characters simultaneously laughable, touching, and above all, absorbing.

JESSICA ANYA BLAU IS AN AWESOME WRITER!

The Summer of Naked Swim Parties is a must read!
Jessica Anya Blau writes beautifully.
She makes you laugh, cry and reminisce about your own childhood.
If you want a novel that will leave you with the warm fuzzies and the feeling of "oh my gosh", go no further!
I strongly recommend The Summer of Naked Swim Parties!

funny & fun, & also stays with you

The Summer of Naked Swim Parties is a funny and fun read that captures the awkwardness of adolescence. As soon as I finished reading it, I started it again and I couldn't stop thinking about Jamie and all the other characters I met. Blau has a gift for the image (the way she describes a crying baby's fists) that lingers, and a smooth and heartfelt way of writing about awkward and difficult emotions. I highly recommend this book.

Fourteen-year-old Jamie will never forget the summer of 1976. It's the summer when she has her first boyfriend, cute surfer Flip Jenkins; it's the summer when her two best friends get serious about sex, cigarettes, and tanning; it's the summer when her parents throw, yes, naked swim parties, leaving Jamie flushed with embarrassment. And it's the summer that forever changes the way Jamie sees the things that matter: family, friendship, love, and herself.
