Stories about supressed sexuality

This book contains three short stories, setup in early 19th century. All stories are set on the West and depict life on the farm(s). My favorite story was titled "Murder" and explains complicated relationship between husband and wife. Their marriage is based on physical attraction that man feels for a pretty young immigrant woman who is obedient on the outside. When he learns by chance that she is unfaithful to him, he kills her lover, who also happens to be her cousin. It is this event and her consequent beating by her husband that helps them both setup their marriage on the right path again. The other stories are as equally powerful. They are brutal and explore supressed human sexuality of that time. Quick and interesting read.
