READ ME, READ ME!

I liked this book alot because it was so interesting and adventurous. If I started reading it I couldn't stop!
Paperquake is about a girl named Violet who hates earthquakes and her teacher Mr.Kock assigns her to do a project about them. Violet keeps finding letters and diary entries from the past that she thinks are written to her. As the book goes on she starts to figure out this confusing mess.

Good book - lacks a good ending...

Now, the book was interesting in the beginning, yet the characters seem fake and not real. As a result, you can't relate to them, in any way. Violet's paralyzing fear of the earthquakes that are rocking the San Francisco Bay Area makes it difficult for her to overcome her "baby" image. Her mother is not much help, let alone her sisters. This author is not very talented, yet has a very good imagination. In the story, Violet's family never really encourages her to do anything. They constantly tease her (at this I was surprised, because the mom was doing it as well, which I thought was quite peculier) and call her "Baby" and don't do anything much to help her acheive strength academically, or physically. The story is mostly about mysterious letters appearing in an old house that the Jackstone sisters are renovating. The end is a bit vague and the author should really work on making her characters "real." Other than all that the overall plot was absolutely amazing and a complete page-turner. Her romance never goes anywhere and never really takes charge of her life. Because of all this, I give a generous 3 stars.

Wow, what a book!

Well, this was a intersting book. I loved it because it was very mysterious and adventerious. When I was reading it,I didn't want to stop! Paperquake is about a girl named Violet Jackstone "baby", who lives in California, hates earthquakes. When her science teacher Mr. Koch, assigns her to a report about earthquakes. As she goes home, her mother and two sisters ask her all types of questions about how she is feeling after the minor earthquakes. She trys to tell them that she is fine and not to worry because she isn't a baby, but they won't listen. So when her sisters get asked to go clean her mother and father's florist shop and not her, she wants to prove to them that she isn't a baby. So insiting to her mother that she can go, she goes with her sisters to the shop the next day. While cleaning, she finds a letter adressed to "V" she thought it was addressed to her, but little did she know, she would find more then just one adressed to "V". Suddenly they feel shakes and the house begins to roll. Knowing that its an earthquake, they duck and cover. Somethings are damged in the old home so Violet goes to investigate, while upstairs she notices a little piece of paper sticking out of the wall where plaster had fallen. While reading another letter adressed to "V", she thinks that they are adressed to her from the past. And as the book goes on you find out more about this mysterious "V".

Violet is struggling to cope with her fear of earthquakes, and the quakes that are stunning the Bay Area aren't letting her recover. Her sisters baby her, even though she is the same age as they are. Violet suffers from heart problems, and her family is afraid that she won't make it. She and her two sisters Rose and Jasmine are triplets, but a lot of people think that Violet is a younger sister. One weekend, while helping her two sisters clean up an old house so her parents can turn it into a flower shop, an aftershock dislodges a couple of letters addressed to `V', and Violet is confident that they are for her. One problem: they're dated 1906. More letters appear as time passes by, and the triplets try to solve the eerie mystery that lies behind the doorway of the past. One puzzle piece is missing though, and they may have to endure more than reading to find it...

I couldn't stop turning the pages of this book, and I wish there wasn't the back cover to stop me from going on. Kathryn Reiss is an amazing writer, and always holds you in suspense. I definitely recommend this book. It's a mix of action, mystery, magic and fantasy. Reiss really hooks the reader in and describes the scenes with amazing sensory details. The writing paints vivid pictures in your mind.

My favourite book

I often read a lot of fiction that is light and fluffy but i found this book and decided to get it. WOW! what a great book. the time travel was great and you really got to know violet well. a gripping end that got you wondering what would happen next.
