Gee, it sure is large.

I put this massive poster on the wall in front of the desk where I studied for the class="textlinks">Java 2 Certification. It helped. It would be nice if it had been designed for smaller space.

These posters (this one and the J2EE one) contain a list of each class="textlinks">Java package contained within either the J2SE or the J2EE. The J2SE poster contain 58 of the 70 packages in the Standard Edition while the J2EE poster contains all the packages within the Enterprise Edition. Between the two posters, almost 80 packages and well over 2,000 classes are displayed. The posters show each package and the classes and interfaces making up the package along with their hierarchical relationship to each other and to other classes in other packages. Classes from other packages are coded to show their "home" package. Abstract and final classes are indicated. Posters containing a list of all the classes in the J2SE or the J2EE are useful at times and may save hunting down a class in the API to determine if, for example, JarOutputStream inherits from DeflaterOutputStream or not. But that isn't the real reason you want these posters, and you know you want them! You want these posters on your wall because they look so cool. Just think how jealous your co-workers will be when they see them hanging in your office or cubicle. Think how impressed your boss will be when she realizes how much there is to know about Java. And when you're stuck on a problem and leaning back looking for inspiration you can stare at these posters and no one will think you're daydreaming.

This poster gives you an overall view of the classes in the Java(tm) 2 Platform, Standard Edition, v1.3. There are now over 2,100 public classes and interfaces within over 70 packages in this latest version. Fifty-eight of these packages are displayed in this poster. For each package, all of the classes and interfaces in the package are displayed, showing their relationships to each other. If a class subclasses a class from another package or if a class implements an interface from another package, these "foreign" classes and interfaces are also shown. Foreign classes and interfaces are marked in such a way as to easily determine to which package they belong. Also indicated is whether each class is final or abstract. Not Shown: java.security.acl; java.awt.peer; javax.swing.plaf.*; javax.transaction; javax.rmi.CORBA; org.omg.*; all inner classes; all errors and exceptions; all deprecated classes and interfaces.*
