sociology class

I really enjoyed taking this class at the community college that I attend. James Henslin is a very good writer. This textbook is very well laid out and it's very easy to follow.

mediocre

I was required to buy this book for a soc class; I really don't recommend it for anyone wanting to go remotely in depth. As another reviewer noted, this would make better reading for someone in highschool. Aside from that it seems fine for a low level survey course. If you are looking to do personal study, you could find much better material.

The book is reflexively liberal. The author's first person accounts of his worldwide travels, frequently to the most wretched places on Earth, were interesting.

The book, which is a college text, is written at an 8th grade level.
