Great for anyone wanting a life change for both yourself and your pet.

After reading the book, I feel empowered to start a new life that focuses on really becoming the best I can be. Having my dog involved in the process even further fuels my push to get into shape. The book includes personality test and diet tips as well as fitness tips for getting into shape. By working out with my pet, I found not only a greater motivation to work out, but I actually found my fitness routine go from blah to vibrant. I highly recommend this book for any pet lover looking for a life change of fitness and health.

Very basic

The book I got shows it was a freebie from Hill's, but I assume it's just like the one pictured. I found it to be very basic with not much in the way of new information. This would be fine with someone who needed some ideas about starting a fitness program for him or herself and/or to add the family dog to the fitness program.

Matching exercising and eating personalities

Walking is a great exercise for people, and even greater for dogs. Put the two together, and you have a recipe (as it were) for physical fitness.

The authors have put together a very interesting series of eating and exercising profiles for both people and dogs. A good dog walker will do their best to understand both so that the dogs they walk are well trained and well exercised. The hints along the way are very valuable for someone new to the endeavour.

We have two dogs, and I completed the questionaires for both dogs and owner; they confirmed pretty much what I already knew. Our dogs don't have a weight or fitness problem, I do!

I recently wrote a little essay entitled "Give that man a biscuit!"

I've mentioned that our two dogs take me for an hour walk three days a week, and they are slowly training me to be more responsive to commands. Today they earned me a wonderful compliment.

We've decide that they should "Sit" ["U-SHANTZ" in the Polish my wife has taught us is the correct language for dogs] whenever a car appears. In part this behaviour was to keep me calm as the cars go by.

In more significant part, it's because three teens drove past us one day and one of them slapped the side of the car and shouted something. Chaos ensued and I went down on my butt. Both dogs were shocked and kissed me up to encourage me to actually get up.

[Poetic justice, really -- years ago when I was 12, my friends and I would slap cars as they went by and shout out: "Hey, you killed a kid!" I'm finally getting my come uppance, I'm sure.]

Anyway, today a wonderful lady stopped and watched them for a moment, looking adorable and smiling at her as they ushantzed brilliantly.

"Those are really well trained dogs," she said.

"It's taken them awhile, but I'm starting to get the hang of things", I replied.

"Arf" said Clive.

With a wave of her hand, she was away, leaving three very happy mammals in her wake.

***

Becker and Kushner provide many interesting details that greatly enriched my dog walking experience.
