Reflex

This book is so great I would recommend it to everyone. This is such a great sequel to the first book.

A long awaited sequel to Jumper

I was so psyched when I saw there was a sequel to Jumper, a book that I fell in love with in high school; I bought it and read it right away. It was well written, kept me in the story the whole time, just like the first book. It was great to see the story continue and to see that Millie has learned that she too has the power to teleport, or jump, as her husband Davy has.

Must admit, saw the new movie "Jumper" that just came out and it in no way compares to the book, Jumper. I actually pointed out to my husband all the things that didn't happen in the book. A decent sci-fi movie with effects and all that, but in no way true to the heart of Jumper, or Reflex.

Read Jumper. Read Reflex. You'll go on a wild ride.

Good for a second book, hope there are more to come!

This was really good for a second book, enjoyed it very much, hope there are more to come!

Great sequel to Jumper

I happened to read both Jumper and Reflex back to back and I enjoyed them both. The concept of teleportation is interesting and the new concepts in Reflex lend a nice spin on the concept.

Now that there will soon be a movie out I don't know if they will include anything from the Reflex book - which would be disappointing since I enjoyed it so much. However the author was kind enough to write another book about Jumpers based on the model of the movie. That book was also very good.

I'm betting they leave out most of the middle book in the movie - but it's worth reading all three in a row.

Steven Gould can do no wrong!

I adore Steven Gould's sci-fi and loved this 2nd book in the Jumper series. I am drawn into the stories, fully believing every word of them, and empathize with the character and the problems that arise with his gift of teleportation. Gould manages to make his characters seem so life-like, describing impossibilities that occur in every day situations in very tactile ways.

I have not seen the movie yet that came out based on the first book, but I was thrilled to buy the new 3rd book in the series, "Griffin's Story", that Gould wrote solely to support the idea of 2nd jumper in the movie. Readers will be pleased to know that the book stands on its own, and despite the movie images on the mass market edition, it has nothing to do with the movie (merely sets the stage for the movie to begin).

Reflex and the original Jumper, however, definitely remain my favorites of Gould's writings.

Davy thinks he's alone...what if he isn't?

When Davy was a young teen, he discovered that he was capable of teleportation. At first, it was only when he was terrified and in horrible danger. Later, he learned to control his ability, and went to work for a secret government agency.

Now, a mysterious group of people has taken Davy captive. They don't want to hire him, and they don't have any hope of appealing to him to help them. What they want is to own him. They want to use his abilities for their own purposes, whether Davy agrees to it or not. And so they set about brainwashing him and conditioning him, and they have found a way to keep a teleport captive.

But there's one thing that they don't know. No one knows it, not even Davy.

The secret is that experiencing teleportation, over and over again, can teach a person how to do it. Davy's wife Millie is the only person on Earth who has teleported nearly as often as he has. She discovered her new talent the same way Davy did -- in mortal danger, facing imminent death, she suddenly found herself in her own apartment.

Now, if she can learn to control this ability, and fast, she may be able to rescue Davy.
