Great

I have cassette tape players for all of my grandchildren - after we've read a book, the children can choose the cassette they want to listen to, put it in and take it out without worries about scratching. These tapes are good.

Great Value for 3 Board Books

A good deal for 3 well illustrated board books. The sound quality on the tape is disappointing, but the board books made up for it. It would be better if the songs were recorded on CD instead of cassette tape.

OK, OK, four and a half stars

My one-and-a-half year old got this package from her aunt and uncle. She loves all three books, but The Lady With the Alligator Purse and Skip to my Lou in particular. My only real complaint is that the music is on a cassette, not a CD, so I can't play it in my car (though I suppose that may be a blessing of sorts), and I can't skip a track easily. Also, with just three songs it can get a bit repetitive, though my daughter is totally unconcerned about such quibbles. Be warned: the songs are infectious, and will get stuck in your head for days and days. Still, great fun for all.

"I'll feed you hay, hay, hay, / And peanut tea, tea, tea, / If you willstay, stay, stay, / And live with me, me, me." Does the distinctive rhythm ofMary Ann Hoberman's adaptation of Miss Mary Mack get your toes a-tappingor hands a-clapping? Or, do your wee ones prefer "cats in the buttermilk, shoofly shoo" from Skip to My Lou? Or, perhaps they giggle most at the madcapwisdom of The Lady with the Alligator Purse who prescribes pizza when thedoctor is pushing penicillin... You don't really have to choose. Preschoolerswill adore these three exuberant song-based board books, two of which areadapted by the splendidly silly Nadine Bernard Westcott, all three of which cometo life (and how!) with her vivacious, cartoonish illustrations. Thistremendously appealing trio is packaged in a handy, child-friendly carrying casewith an accompanying cassette tape of sing-along songs. (Baby to age 5)--Karin Snelson
