Excellent reference textbook for GynOnc

This is a fairly comprehensive reference text on Gynecologic Oncology. In addition to the standard fare - clinical management of neoplasms of the female reproductive tract - it includes chapters on basic science (genetics, immunology, epidemiology and statistics), principles and complications of chemotherapy, palliative care and minimally invasive surgery. It also includes appendices on staging, screening, radiation therapy, blood transfusion and nutritional support.

The layout is pretty, with lavish illustrations and the book is very easy on the eyes. The text, for the most part, flows. The comprehensive bibliography for each chapter is indexed by chapter header (very handy for preparing a good lecture).

Though the book is not an atlas, it does dwell on operative indications and planning (e.g. the Rutledge classification of radical hysterectomies, the merits and flaws of different conduits for urinary diversion, the FIGO recommendations for surgical staging of ovarian cancer) - but you will also need an operative atlas to supplement it.

All in all, a comprehensive and yet reader-friendly reference. If you are an Ob&Gyn resident, or a starting GynOnc fellow, you'll probably derive the most benefit from this book.
