What a shame....

What a shame that such a good author would turn out such a half-finished, unsatisfying story like this. Characters so out of place that they're unrecognizable, an unlikely plot that is just not necessary, and an ending that I absolutely hated, and I'm not alone in that opinion.

Plus, what is with the size of this? It felt half-sized, and definitely not worth the hardcover price. My advice? Buy only if you bought any of the other eight car crashes that were the previous books and need to complete the series and learn about the ending. But if I could do it over again, I would just wait until the paperback came out.

What a shame.....

An unsatisfactory series limps across the finish line.

The last installment of the series was dismal and this one is no exception and while I'm on this topic the last 3 three books have been an exercise in good idea but extremely poor execution. While there is an ultimate confrontation between the twins it will leave most readers feeling extremely unsatisfied. You'll find yourself asking "when did both twins turn into raging psychopaths?"

The problem that I found is that the various author spent so much time sending Jana Solo to Mandalorian boot camp they forgot to do anything else. All other main characters Han, Leia, Luke, Ben take more or less a backseat and as for the not quite so main characters such as Lando well don't worry about them they disappeared several books ago.

There are several good points

Ben Skywalker is an interesting character and I look forward to seeing more of him although everyone knows he is just serving as a substitute for Anakin Skywalker if he had survived the war.

At least in the Star Wars expanded universe there is only one timeline that we have to worry about and if it is not well written it is at the very least consistent and if you don't know what I mean go read a Star Trek book and see how long it takes for you to get confused.

Legacy Finale

I need to start with a confession-a bad Star Wars book is better than none! I liked all 9 books but feel the whole story could have been said in 5 volumes. Jacen's slow transition into sithdom and all his "feelings" dragged on a little too long. I did not like how main characters had to be killed off. This is science fiction and I don't read these books and say they aren't realistic just because someone didn't get killed off! I for one do not want to see any of the original characters-Han, Leia, Luke, Lando-killed off. Nor any more of the second generation. Who's going to be around in 10 years??? ATTENTION AUTHORS-if you think these guys are getting too old (and I think they can go on into their 90s easy with all the bacta and prosthetics!), please just let them fade away. Don't kill them off-please.

No war can last forever. Now, in the long and punishing battle between the defiant champions of the New Jedi Order and the juggernaut that is the Galactic Alliance, the endgame is finally at hand. With so much lost?and nothing less than the course of the future still at stake?there can be no turning back. No matter the consequences.

The rebel cause is losing ground under the twin blows of Admiral Gilad Pellaeon?s assassination and the death of Mara Jade Skywalker. At the same time, having gained the support of the Imperial Remnant and its ruthlessly efficient forces, the Galactic Alliance, with the extraordinary power and dark brilliance of newly ascendant Sith Lord Darth Caedus at its helm, may be unstoppable. Tormented and torn between the call of duty and the thirst for vengeance, Luke has searched the Force and beheld an unspeakable vision of the galaxy enslaved under tyranny more monstrous than even Palpatine?s. Now it seems that the last, best hope lies in mobilizing the scattered Jedi for one decisive search-and-destroy mission. The objective: eliminate Darth Caedus.

It?s a plan that will be as difficult and dangerous to execute as it is daring. For Caedus is a scion of both the Skywalker and Solo bloodlines whose command of the Force surpasses even that of his grandfather

Darth Vader. There is only one who is bound by destiny to stand against him in what will surely be a duel to the death, only one with an outside chance of bringing down the dark lord who was once Jacen Solo.

Failure is not an option. The furious final moments between power and peace are here, and whoever confronts Darth Caedus will decide the outcome?and the fate of those left standing.
