Every Breath You Take
LOVED THIS BOOK!! There are two versions of this book and both are good, but the extended version is much better and explains some of the things left out of the first one. I would recommend this book to anyone. It is a must read!! The chemistry between the two characters is a once in a lifetime love and wonderfully written!
A Romance Novel With Class and Intellect
I have not read a romance
novel
in over ten years, but I have to say I am actually impressed when I stumbled across
Every
Breath
You
Take
. Most other romance novels I have read tend to be a little bit raunchy when describing the love scenes, but I thought McNaught was classy when she wrote about these intimate moments. Also, this novel helped to keep my interest where regular romance novels do not because there was a murder mystery interwoven into the plot. I am not knocking romance novels because I used to enjoy them and they were a fun read, but what I like about McNaught is that she can combine intrigue, romance, and mystery, which I consider traits of a very talented and sophisticated writer. This is first McNaught Novel I have read and I heard some other reviewers said her other novels were better, but from the point of view of a novice I have to say this one was pretty good. It took me awhile to become engrossed in the novel, but once Mitchell and Kate started interacting I was hooked. Another thing I liked was how their romance seemed more real world and not contrieved like some of the romance novels I read ten years ago. I could actually believe they were real people with flaws and all. Sometimes they did weird things and they were not perfect people, so I am glad McNaught knows how to add a touch or reality to her books.

Great Read!!
This book was a great read!! I highly recommend it. Even though it is in a series with "Perfect" and "Paradise" the book is in a class by itself! I had not read the two previous books and still enjoyed "
Every

You
Take
."
My first McNaught
I bought this book on a lark, and had never read any of McNaught's books. I am a little surprised by some of the other reviews - but then, I am not comparing my reading experience to any of her other books.
I've read some romance
novel
s on and off now for about 6 months - when i want a little mental break. I have found that only about 1/3 of the time the books are anything more that trivial, one-dimensional, boring, easily forgettable fluff. That is why this book surprised me.
Of course, the premise is ridiculous - they all are - but what makes a good book great is when
you
can overlook that and still enjoy the characters and the plot. These are the most multi-dimensional characters I have read in this sort of genre. I happen to like a contemporary setting; I guess I believe it more plausible for me to meet a dashing, rich hero on a lovely island than time travelling to meet a Scottish laird. :) And one of the BEST parts? The really clever repartee between the main characters. I liked them, and I believed them. And thank god not just another he-man! - Mitchell is not just sexy, but very appealing.

Why does McNaught embarrass heros?
The only thing I don't like about the fabulous McNaught? She puts her heros in unflattering, embarrassing predicaments, that, if not for her extraordinary abiltiy to turn them back into interesting heros, would be a turn-off for me.
A perfect example is Matt Farrell (PARADISE}. Matt's initial experience with Meredith's father at a party was humiliating in the extreme and not a very good memory to carry through the entire book. I don't like it when heros are embarrassed and McNaught came close to doing the same thing to Mitchell Wyatt, but, thankfully, she brought him through his 'interrogation' with his dignity intact.
This story was mediocre at first, but it ended up being very, very good, and the last few chapters were so engrossing I couldn't put it down.
Kate was wonderful, although she was foolish to
take
her best friend's advice on how to act in front of Mitchell.
Mitchell was
every
thing a romantic hero should be; it was a joy reading his story.

Every

is the book readers have been waiting for. Returning to the lavish Chicago setting of her popular novel Paradise, and revisiting some of that book?s characters as well, this story will captivate in inimitable Judith McNaught style.
High atop a snow-covered hill, the stately old Wyatt mansion is perched like a crown, its stone spires pointing upward, its stained glass windows glowing like colorful jewels. Such opulence means success and, surely, happiness. But on the eve of wealthy philanthropist Cecil Wyatt?s eightieth birthday, all the money in the world won?t bring back his missing grandson, William Wyatt. The only thing for certain: Foul play was involved.
The family, the police, the media?all have tried in vain to discover the young man?s fate. Now suspicion has turned shockingly toward William?s own half-brother, the rather distant and enigmatic Mitchell Wyatt.
Kate Donovan never dreamed that a chance romantic encounter on a tropical island paradise would tag her as a suspect in a high-society murder case. But after Kate tangles with the darkly charismatic Mitchell Wyatt, she finds herself cast in a shadow of guilt and mistrust. As the Chicago police tighten their net, it will take all of Kate?s ingenuity to clear her name. With her calm, cool wit, and the help of a man who may or may not be a dangerous catch, Kate vows to claim the life and love she desires.
