Sideway Stories from Wayside School

Sideway Stories from Wayside School is a fun, wackey book! It is filled with jokes, pranks, and some crazy characters. The school that the students go to has 30 floors filled with exciting things, (excpet for 19, there is no 19th floor). Every new chapter leads to a new student or character! There is also a evil teacher, Mrs. Gorf that turns all of the students into apples! Anyone who likes funnny, crazy, wackey books should defentily read this! So, read Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar and find out what happens to Mrs. Gorf in revenge!

A wayside review for a sideways book.

I bought this book to show my nieces and nephews where the T.V. show Wayside came from, and they couldn't be more impressed. They laughed and smiled, and they quoted the book every chance they had.

But the most important part? They READ the book. And they ENJOYED it, the same way that I enjoyed it 15 years ago in elementary school.

This is a strange kind of book. It's odd, it's funny, it can be gross, but most of all, it's entertaining. It caters to the children's imaginations and captures it in ways that many books only hope to accomplish.

A true classic.

Sideways Stories from Wayside School (Austin)

I just read Sideways Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar. It was published by Bloosbury Publishing PLC on January 19, 2004. I would rate this book a 5 out of 5.
This book is about a bunch of weird kids who go to school in a thirty story school. The school was supposed to be built with one story and thirty classrooms but instead it was built thirty stories with one classroom on each story. These kids have a bunch of wacked out stories. One time this girl named Sharie fell out of a window! How wiered is that?

I thought this book was very funny. I could've read it over and over. All in all it was a good book.

still fabulous.

I had to re-read this book for a project for an education graduate class and it's still as good as I remember, over 10 years later. The book is funny, both for kids and the teachers that will assign them this book. It is the story of the teachers and students on the 30th floor of Wayside School. Wayside School isn't your ordinary school because the school was built 30 stories tall, with a classroom on each floor instead of one floor with 30 classrooms. The 30+ characters are very distinctive and have a witty and hilarious story that goes along with each of them. The book is appropriate for 4-6th grade students and there are so many projects, both literate and artistic that can be done with this book. I definitely recommend it for your child or for your classroom.

early elementary humor at its best

I bought this bk based on Amazon summaries & reviews when I searched for options for my 9 yr old 3rd grade daughter to read works in the fantasy genre for school; as an adult, it hit me like the silly jokes that never fail to entertain early elemantary age kids - I am not roped in or doubled over in laughter; quite the contrary for the target audience!; the sillier & more nonsensical, the better; my daughter giggles out loud & eagerly devours each vignette about the kids in the unusual school; she eats up the tongue in cheek humor; I do not like the continuous use of the word "stupid", or the fact that student Todd is repeatedly referred to as dumb; the kids would be seen as smart mouthed to some; it is funny to keep seeing names go up on the board under the word "discipline" w/the constantly looming threat of being sent home early on the kindergarten bus; we were not familiar w/Louis Sachar, but will sample more of his work after this

There was a terrible mistake-Wayside School was built with one classroom on top of another, thirty stories high! (The builder said he was sorry.) Maybe that's why all kinds of funny things happened at Wayside-especially on the thirteenth floor.
