One of the Best!!!

A SECRET LOVE was one of the best Cynster books... It was Gabriel and Althea's story... it was sweet, and very interesting... They made a very compatable pair, and I love the whole masquerade thing... it was a very enjoyable book, one that I can re-read over and over again.

Just an average read for me

I had some great expectations going into this one from all of the reviews. However, I found this book moved too slowly and I found myself bored many times. There was too much thinking and not enough dialogue in the beginning as well. I liked the characters and the story was a pretty good idea. I just think it could have been much better - probably with better editing...too much off plot unnecessary occurrences. Also, it really got on my nerves when it got into the necessary declarations of love..."hmmm, can he really love me if he doesn't say it exactly as I want him to using my preconceived script?" I just see that too much in these books...lazy way too many authors use to separate and then finally bring the couple together emotionally.

Another great Cynster story

I love the Cynster series, and this is another great addition to it. I loved the idea that the hero and heroine had know each other their whole lives, but they never realized they were attracted to each other untill the hero had no idea who the heroine was. Great story!

My favorite Cynster novel

Ah, yes, I've read them all (and the Bastion Club series also). Gabriel is my favorite Cynster; this is my favorite Cynster book. Granted the improbability of the original premise of the countess in disguise, it works out well; Chillingworth makes a wonderful, sly, teasing, foil for Gabriel (too bad he lost it in his own novel).

One slight quibble. Lucifer (Alasdair) comes through as slightly forgetful. At the come-out dinner, he's clearly pretty aware of what's going on, but the morning after the big crisis, it's "Who would have thought?" By golly, **he** would have thought -- and he did.
