Kept Me Interested

Great book. I was interested from start to finish. Great character development. Started getting a little bored with the "I can't be with him even though we are so in love" plot. Worked out in the end. Christina Dodd has a very engaging way of writing a story.

Beware of Spoilers - JUST READ THE BOOK!!!!

This is by far the best book i have read by Christina Dodd. I totally got lost reading this book, not in a bad way, mind you, but it kept me up all night, as soon as I finished, I just had to read it again. I'm an avid romance reader and this is the only book out of hundreds that I had to read twice in one day. There are some cons to this book but nothing major, i.e. "ending", other than that, it is worth the time.

MacLean is soooo sexy, Enid is lovable and the rest of the characters are fun. I won't go into detail as the other reviewers did a good job covering some highlights, so my advice is to read it yourself and avoid reading the reviews as others may spoil it for you.

The Best in the Lot!!!!

I read Publisher's Weekly review on this book, and they called it a weak entry. Did we read the same book? Lost in Your Arms is one of the best Christine Dodd books I've read. Infact this book made me her fan. I read this one first not realizing it was a series, I hope the rest of them are this good!

Enid Seymore was no stranger to life's hardships, the orphaned bastard child of a nobleman, thought luck was finally in her favor when she met and married the handsome, and charming Stephen Maclean, but soon realized that this was no fairy tale and Stephen was far from the knight in shining armor she thought he was. When her husband cast her off after 3 months of marriage, and left her with all his debts, Enid was forced to find work as an assistant to a village doctor. Now a nurse companion 9 years later, Enid recieves a message that her no good husband is badly injured and she is needed to nurse him back to health. The last thing Enid wanted was to meet Stephen again, but she dutifully nurses him back from the brink off death, only to realize that he has amnesia and can't remember her at all. Besides his familiar green eyes, this man is unlike the spoiled, rotten, and selfish man she married 9 years ago.

Maclean was sure he would have remembered having Enid as a wife, who would forget having a beautiful and saucey wife sleeping next to him at night. But yet for the life of him he couldn't remember a thing about her or of the life she claimed he lived. He didn't gamble as she claimed he loved to do, and he would never cast off his wife as she said he did. All he knows is that whatever secrets are locked away in his memory, someone is trying to kill him to make sure they are never revealed...

Lost In Your Arms, is a beautiful love story that I have read over and over again, once you start you can't put it down until your finished!

Lovin' MacLean

I was reluctant to read this book after the dude that was Rules of Surrender. Boy, was I lucky gave this book a chance. The emotional realism was spot on. I liked how Enid was able to find happiness after so many years of hardship. And as far as heroes go, MacLean is top notch. Great couple. The reader could really feel the love between these two.

Just nice

I bought this book knowing that it's a replica of White Lies which I simply love, so I don't exactly mind the plot similarities. The story is nice, well written and mostly fast-paced (there are a couple of points where it drags, but nothing too much).
Unfortunately, and this happened to me again with Mrs Dodd's Rules to Surrender, I find that I cannot really relate to the heroes and their problems. They simply fail to touch me. I'm not sure why, because I do like her writing style. Something I noticed, and I didn't like at all, is that IMO Mrs Dodd adjusts her heroes' characters to the plot rather than the other way around. That means, that her heroes do not stay true to their original description but change if needed for the plot to advance. I found that to be the case in the scene where Enid learns about her Lady Halifax's (her former employee) death and her reaction to it which was too emotional considering her portrayal thus far and the simple fact that Mrs Halifax's death wasn't a surprise. This scene, leads to a new turn of events, but to me was unjustifiable. Besides, the attraction between the heroes seemed to me rather told (by the author) than felt.

I did enjoy the book, although I already knew what would happen since it is EXACTLY the same with white lies, but I will not re-read it (I've read White Lies 3 times till now). Neither a waste of time or money nor a keeper.

A Groom Who Can't Remember. Bride Who Wants Desperately To Forget.

Enid MacLean is finally living a peaceful life when she receivesword that an explosion has injured the husband she hoped she'd neverhave to see again. Reluctantly, she agrees to do her duty but, except for his distinctive green eyes, the man she nursesback to health is not the man she remembers.

And he remembers nothing. From the depths of his amnesia, he reaches out for the woman he believes is his wife, tempting her with ardent words and a reckless passion she finds herself unable to resist. And while Enid finds herself losing her heart to this achingly familiar stranger, she cannot help but wonder how her husband has become such a dangerous, seductive man . . . and what secrets he carries locked away in his lost memories.

Last time marriage cost her her happiness. This time love could cost her more.
