LOVED IT!!!!!

This is one of favorite Sophie Kinsella books. I could really relate to Samantha and wish I could have just taken off to play the role of a housekeeper. Great book. I highly recommend to anyone looking for some fun, light hearted reading.

Enjoyable, quick read!! Would recommend!

I love the author and have read all of her other books... she is funny and witty. This was an enjoyable, funny book.

The goddess of chick lit

This was the first book I read from Sophie Kinsella and perhaps that's the reason it's still my favorite one. This book offers everything a chick lit novel is expected to serve: light humor, a little mystery, romance and lovely images of the english countryside, where small villages with nice pubs, small rivers, stone bridges, wonderful gardens full of flowers and aromas exists. I've never actually been in the english countryside, but the images created by this novel were so vivid I felt I was there. As a result, it was one of the most relaxing and escapist novels I've read. The storyline was engaging, the writing style flawless and the mixture of humor, romance and suspense absolutely perfect. I've read it twice since, when I'm feeling down and don't want to take risks with other books, because it's guaranteed to make me feel good, as opposed to other chick lit books that try to do so but fail miserable (Just friends and Perfect Timing come to mind).

Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She?s made a mistake so huge, it?ll wreck any chance of a partnership.

Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she?s mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they?ve hired a lawyer?and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can?t sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope?and finds love?is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.

But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does?will she want it back?
