light, quick, fun read

This was a fun read that was easy to fall into. I loved the women in the book and bonded with them. I was surprised and disappointed with the ending.

The Friday Night Knitting Club

I absolutely love this book. I have been home healing after a bilateral mastectomy and this book is exactly what I needed to read. What a wonderful story about women sharing in each others lives. Kate's characters come to life with each chapter. Cannot wait to read something else from her!!

A Warm, Comforting Novel

Kate Jacobs's first novel, The Friday Night Knitting Club, is a sure winner. The book follows Georgia Walker, a single mom raising her preteen daughter Dakota, while also running her knitting business. As the story unfolds, so does a Friday night knitting club made up of a diverse group of women: Anita, an older woman who is Georgia's rock and best friend, Peri, a young vibrant woman with ambitions of being an artist and selling purses, Darwin, an ultra feminist who only comes to the meetings to "research" how knitting is sending women back to the stone ages, Lucie, a lonely woman longing to have a family, and K.C., a smart woman who want to make a drastic change in her life. Although on the surface these women seem like complete opposites, the reader learns they all yearn for companionship.
The characters grow into more than just a knitting club; they become a family, helping the each other in their own diverse way. The story is crisp with and older romance between Anita and a long time friend Marty, and a younger romance, between Georgia and Dakota's father, who finally returns in Georgia's life. The novel is about finding yourself and your purpose on this earth and each of the character's help one another in achieving this goal. So, when an unexpected tragedy strikes, the women ban together to create one powerful family.
This book is not only well written, but the reader is sure to conjure multiple emotions, happiness and sadness, often at the same time. It is an uplifting novel, especially for Jacob's first.
