A very excellent read

I have been reading the Animorphs series for about four years now, and the writing has started to get a bit boring and mundane (I think it's the ghostwriters). However, this book was, by far, like a red rose shining out of a winter garden. It has been a long time since I enjoyed a book like this one. I can agree with the fact that K.A. cannot let Mertil hanging. She added him to the books, and now the readers want to find out his fate. He, along with Arbron, Melissa Chapman, and Aftran, should play a larger part in the final battle. If any of the Animorphs books should be picked up and read again, this is definately one of them.

Interesting...

In this book, the Animorphs discover other Andalites on earth. One is a vecol (an Andalite with his/her tailblade cut off) and has been captured by the Yeerks. The other has a desiese, so Visser Three doesn't infest them, but he wants in return for returning the vecol, to give him one of the "Andalite Bandits" so he can make another Andalite-Controller. The Animorphs and the Andalite thats not captured go to try to rescue the vecol. Will the Animorphs suceed, or will they fail? Read the book to find out!

Animorphs #40: The Other

While Animorphs #40 did not make it point through action it was a very appealing book. A valuable lesson is taught in this book that other books has not had before, the value of friendship. It shows that no matter how diseased and disabled the person was, his friend loved him still even while he was despised by Andalite standards. In The Other, two Andalites are discovered from the Dome Ship crash, and they're waiting until help finally comes. They were sighted on TV and home video. Marco and the others need to uncover the mystery for it may all be a very cunnig trap to destroy the Animorphs. Is it really a trap, and if not, are these other Andalites going to side with the Animorphs ? Because the last alliance with Andalites failed. And if these Andalites are traitors as well, the Animorphs are doomed.

Makes you think a little longer...

From watching TV, Marco discovers that Ax is not as alone as they thought-there are other Andalites on Earth! Two other Andalites survived the space battle that sent the Dome into the ocean. In this touching and tragic book, readers further see how Andalite prejudices are in many ways like human society's. The book explores how these two Andalites forsake everything else in their intense loyalty and friendship with each other. One Andalite is a vecol, meaning his tail blade is cut off, which makes him a cripple (with the unfortunate combination of being unable to morph). The other Andalite has a genetic disease, like Huntington's disease, so he is unable to escape the disease by morphing to something else and back.

This book has few moments of humor. It deals with real issues in human society about prejudice, discrimination, and morality. I liked the sophistication of this book and the complex issues it delves into. Some say that Marco isn't the best narrator for this serious book, but I disagree. I think it takes a character with humor to make the situation less awkward. When a character who is normally humorous says something serious, you tend to pay a bit more attention than if it was Cassie, who is always for moral uprightness. This is definitely a touching, poignant book, whose last page will linger in you a little longer.

It wasn't the best...

This definitely wasn't the best Animorphs book done by Marco. Or anyone, for that matter. It was a little bit interesting, and vaguely humorous at times, but it wasn't as good as it could have been, and definitely not as good as #45-50 have been.

Everyone thought Visser Three and Ax were the only Andalites on Earth... until now. The Animorphs have discovered two other warriors who have escaped from Ax's Dome ship, and they may be able to help fight the Yeerks! But are they really Andalites, or is this just a cunning trap?
