Not as good as the others...
I liked the
Prophet
of
Yonwood
but I have to say I really liked City of
Ember
and People of Sparks a whole lot better!! It has a decent storyline but I felt like it kinda drug on for awhile. Maybe it was because I was expecting it to explain more about the City of Ember, when really they don't get to that part until later in the book.
Yonwood okay
The
Prophet
of
Yonwood
is an okay book. I didn't think it was nearly as good as the first one, The City of
Ember
. When I saw it, I was expecting a sequel, except that it was a prequel. There's this lady, Althea Tower, who keeps having visions and the lady in charge of her, Mrs. Beeson, tries to descript it and orders people to do stuff. Nikki was okay with this until they said to get rid of the dogs. She had found this dog named Otis in the third floor of their house and she really liked him. I liked how it ended and you could keep reading them and it could go in a cycle. I thought that was a really neat ending. I really didn't get the picture on the front cover until like four months later. I figured out that it was a flock of birds that shaped a missile.

Book 3 of 4 is highly recommended
The third book in the series "the city of
ember
" was not like book one and two. It didn't mention any of the characters that were in one and two. Another thing I do not get is that it's the third book, but in the section "What Happend Afterward," you realize that nickie's father was one of the builders of the underground city, The City of Ember, Which you will find more about in book one. Also, in the first and second book, they talk about a war, the war doesn't start till the third book. I liked the third book because it made me wonder why they talked about book one in book three. It also got me wondering about book four, which is the last of the series, which is coming out in 2008. I think that the fourth book will be as good as the first three.

It?s 50 years before the settlement of the city of
Ember
, and the world is in crisis. War looms on the horizon as 11-year-old Nickie and her aunt travel to the small town of
Yonwood
, North Carolina. There, one of the town?s respected citizens has had a terrible vision of fire and destruction. Her garbled words are taken as
prophetic instruction
on how to avoid the coming disaster. If only they can be interpreted correctly. . . .
As the people of Yonwood scramble to make sense of the woman?s mysterious utterances, Nickie explores the oddities she finds around town?her great-grandfather?s peculiar journals and papers, a reclusive neighbor who studies the heavens, a strange boy who is fascinated with snakes?all while keeping an eye out for ways to help the world. Is this vision her chance? Or is it already too late to avoid a devastating war?
In this prequel to the acclaimed The City of Ember and The People of Sparks, Jeanne DuPrau investigates how, in a world that seems out of control, hope and comfort can be found in the strangest of places.
