Good advice, however...

I believe the advice that Joyce Meyer gives in order to be a confident, bold and fearless woman in today's world is great.. However, Meyer uses a lot of quotes and references to the bible and so if you are not a very religious person, you might want to pick up another book on the subject.

Inspiring and uplifting book!

A book about being confident should be encouraging and inspiring. And The Confident Woman by Joyce Meyer is both. The author first defines what confidence is - "being positive concerning what you can do - and not worrying over what you can't do." Then, she correctly diagnoses that the reason so many women (and men) lack confidence is self-doubt and fear in its various forms. Next, she points out that the foundation for her confidence is her relationship with Jesus Christ and what the Bible says is true about every person. Specifically, the tremendous value that God places upon us and the fact that He has a purpose for our lives. Meyer then systematically goes through a variety of problems, concerns and solutions we encounter in everyday life.

Joyce Meyer effortlessly weaves her own experiences and challenges throughout the book in such a way that the reader feels a connection with her and realizes that the issues she faces are not much different from the ones I face. There are so many helpful insights that I will only mention three that ministered to me. "Doing what one believes to be right will always increase confidence." This sentence was connected to a section about peer pressure and pointed out a common situation where we can undermine our own confidence by going along with the crowd.

"A confident woman is not afraid of being wrong! She realizes she can recover from making a mistake and doesn't allow the fear of making one imprison her ..." I found this statement and the following elaboration very liberating and a real encouragement to action.

A third statement that struck me was "God never intended us to run from our enemies. His plan was and still is that with Him at our side we confront any issue in our life that is a problem." Again, this is followed by an explanation that builds upon her experiences and those of others she has met. There are so many of these helpful discoveries in the book that I would highly recommend anyone (female or male)who struggles with confidence to read it.

In all your getting, get understanding

Joyce Meyer books are always filled with wisdom and understanding. As usual, she gives you wisdom for life through the lessons she has learned, going through her own healings. I reccommend this book as another piece to the puzzle of unraveling the hurtful roots that are buried deep within us that only God can heal.

Joyce Myers book

Another book with the great teaching of Joyce Myers, to put God in the center of your life and how to keep him there. Very good book..after i read it, gave it as a gift to friend.

TRULY AMAZING & EYE-OPENING WONDERFUL BOOK!

I adore Joyce Meyer. I've read a few of her books and own one "Starting Your Day Right," which I enjoy immensley.

However, THIS book, THE CONFIDENT WOMAN is hands-down, one of the BEST books I've EVER read!

Truth be known, I've always been a bit of a feminist; not a bra-burning, man-hating feminist, but a woman who strongly believed (and still does) that us women deserve equal treatment, rights and opportunities! After reading this book, I'm even more convinced that my passion for women's equality and women's rights is absolutely the Christian thing to feel/do!

I've always been a Christian, but often felt conflicted about the two; being both a Christian and a feminist, the two just don't mix--or so I thought!

Joyce Meyer, and this book, have proved me wrong! This book has helped me become easier on myself, those around me, and especially, easier on the men in my life. It is NOT weak to need a man, nor is it weak for them to need us women; and we do--we all need each other, and that's EXACTLY the way God intended it to be--reading this book drove that point home for me.

Joyce speaks and writes from the heart using personal experience, Biblical Scripture (which admittedly, I'm not as familiar with on my own as I'd like to be), and lot of honesty. I found myself blown away by almost every page!

I even read parts of it out loud to my fiancee' (who at times is intimidated by my feminsim) and he thoroughly enjoyed it! He said that this book makes complete and total sense to him, and he's not a book person, nor a real church going man (although he is a Christian!), so I say, any book that can get through to my fiancee' and open his mind about looking at things a different way, well, that book is a real winner to me! My fiancee' is a wonderful man, by the way, just not an avid reader like I am! LOL!

Anyway, Joyce speaks about Biblical proof that women are equal, real, flawed and amazing; all at the same time. She talks about the REAL difference between confidence and ego; and there is a huge difference!

She teaches you (or reminds you rather) to put your real and truest confidence in Christ; and that as long as you have that (and I always have), you will have confidence in yourself. This book gives you tools to boost your confidence and ways to be assertive and honest, without being bratty, bossy or otherwise. As she says "the boss doesn't have to be bossy," very true!

I think this book is actually great for everyone; not just women. I think any open-minded man would enjoy this too! This book is really a guide on how to live an open, honest, confident life based in Christ while believing in Him, yourself, and living the Golden Rule.

Joyce speaks many times about how EACH of us (women and men) are to be treated wtih love, kindness and respect; and that we shouldn't judge one another based on our genders alone. So very true! A very poingnant and universal message that I feel the entire world needs!

If you're a Christian, a Joyce Meyer fan, new to her works, or just a woman looking for a great, insightful, inspirational and informative read; I would highly reccomend this book!

I agree that it would make a great gift for anyone; especially women! Women need this message, and we need to stop apologizing for asking(or just taking, in some cases) for what God intended us to have in the first place; a life filled with love, respect, purpose, honesty, joy and confidence!

Thanks, Joyce, for all of the great reminders, real insights and inspiration! This book has changed my life for the better!
