A Fast & Decent Summer Read

I found the story good & it held my attention. The characters are very plausible for the most part. Unfortunately I found Ned & Ellie, the hero & heroine not to be too realistic. She, a wet behind the ears FBI agent. He, a good kid turned into a small time thug. They hit it off after he kidnaps her to plead his case. A romance blossoms & when the case is over she's quit her job; he's received a windfall of millions of dollars. They marry & live happily ever after. The course their lives take is a bit over the top. It's a fast read with an ending that succeeds very well in spite of the 2 main characters. I just didn't find up to snuff compared with other Patterson novels

Not His Best Work

I probably enjoyed this book a little more because so much of the action takes place in my hometown of Lake Worth, but otherwise I didn't think it was up to JP's usual standards.

The two main characters were flat-out unlikeable and belief had to be suspended just one too many times. Also, there were points where the book was actually confusing because of all the characters that were tossed in early but never developed enough to establish their own identity.

JP should stick to his series work, which is really much better than his stand-alones.

One of his best!

Like all books James Patterson writes, I cannot put it down until I've finished the book. The characters, the plot and up until the last twist it pure reading enjoyment. A great thriller full of twists

Patterson creates a character who is very likeable and his relationship with Ellie is very likeable and believable. This is one with twists to the VERY end, and I very much liked the ending. One of Patterson's best in my opinion.
