Well, I liked the last 60 pages...

I enjoyed the last few chapters of this book, but the first 470 pages were extremely depressing for me. I'm so hooked on this series, that I do not mind all the storylines going on at once and while I wish the romance between Phury and Cormia had been stronger, that didn't bother me too much either.

I just needed some comic relief (or something)to combat the dark and disturbing 470 pages!

Ward made Phury an addict and she wrote that extremely well, without sugarcoating it. I remember admiring her writing for not sugarcoating Z's sexual abuse, like so many romance novels do these days. My problem with the book was that Rhev's story was sad, John, Qhuinn, and Blay's story was sad, Phury's story was depressing, and Lash's story dark.

So, basically: SAD, DARK, and DEPRESSING.

I THINK J.R IS AN EXCELLENT WRITTER, AND I LOVE ALL THE TWISTS ON THIS ONE ALL THE CHANGES ARE FOR THE BETTER AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR REVENGE STORY NEXT.

put this book down!!!! I started reading it and was hooked. Reading Ward books, you know you will be hurting for a character so I was prepared for that. I totally loved it!!!!! Of course, the romance was not there but the rest was a great ride. I can't wait for the next and the next.......

Not the best in the series, but still a good read

I will say that I can understand why LE got some bad reviews. Before I finished the book I found myself thinking that it didn't feel like her other romance's in that it wasn't really about the couple as much as the whole BDB and what was going on in everyone's world. It did have mostly back stories and secondary plots going on, but the romance I did get in the story made me happy. I'll say that I would have preferred more of a focus on Phury and Cormia, but I wasn't completely disappointed with all the extra info. I guess it just depends on your expectations going in. I wouldn't categorize this novel as strictly romance, but since I'm really into the series and all of the other characters, I still enjoyed reading about them and anticipating their stories. I'll still buy the next book new and get excited. Like I said, this wasn't her best, but still a good, well written read and I can't wait for the next one in the series.
