Entertaining read

This was my first exposure to this series, and I was pleasantly surprised. His characters are mostly tropes (the Misunderstood Outsider, the Hard Ass, the Useful Cop Friend, the Noble Vampire), but he blends them together into an entertaining and fast-moving plot. Additional strengths: some good humor, realistic observations on politics and high-level decision making, and a well-constructed world that is easy to believe in. Four stars.

Jim Butcher does an excellent job of keeping the supernatural and the wizard Harry Dresden moving from action to action in a hard to put down book series! Excellent series for anyone to read!!!! Cannot wait for the next book to be released.

Great Read

Jim Butcher has done it again. The Dresden Files just keep on ticking--each book has been great and Turn Coat: A Novel of the Dresden Files is no exception. Faced with a traitor within the ranks of his own kind, Harry Dresden stands up for the Warden who has made most of his life a living hell. The book starts fast and rushes forward at an exhilirating pace. Well written, and most of all, it has that touch of the sardonic that Butcher does so well. I definitely recommend this book. If you haven't read the entire series, it does read a little better if you do them in order.

Better than new condition

Bought this book, advertised as 'like new' condition. It was better than advertised! The book had never been opened before, and the jacket was perfect.

Not as good......

It still gets 5 stars, no doubt in my mind, but it just wasn't as good. The mystery was more tense and shadowy than some of the others, and it's nice that the traitor is finally getting ousted, but it's a slower novel, I think.

There's definitely a lot of explosive scenes and plenty of action here. It is a clever, playful novel that definitely has some serious fun. The catch is, I feel there was more dialogue and more rambling gibbering scenes. Each one had a purpose of course, but it detracted I think from the final product slightly.

If you're a fan of the series, you simply cannot side-step this one. It's possibly the most important to date since perhaps Dead Beat. If you're not yet a full-time Dresden reader, this is NOT the book for you and I seriously suggest you go read Storm Front.
