A Playful Look at Hindu Dieties

What a fantastic book! I'm not hindu, and I must say I am fascinated with this culture. The stories behind each deity is playfully written and the illustrations compliment its description. I understand this is targeted to children moreso than adults and it's not meant to be taken so literaly, but I have found that I now understand a glimpse of what this culture believes in. That being said, I wish he could come out with a more in-depth book geared towards adults, in which the information is more detailed and the illustrations more complex.

I enjoyed reading this book, for someone like me who has just a basic understanding of this culture, but advance curiousity, it just makes me want to learn more about it.

Its an amazing book with a modern feel. The description of Hindu pantheon is fairly exhaustive for the size of the book and descriptions are straightforward. Author has a personal attachment with the deities and has succeeded in his effort to introduce Hindu deities to a broad audience. The greatest achievement of this book is the graphics: the artwork is very attractive. This book can double up as craft book for kids.

Delighful book

I love the drawings and the descriptions of the gods are fun to read. My kid loves the book. A few parts are a bit too graphic for the young kids but probably no worse than anything on TV. Overall, a fun book for young and old.

Great Book for Children

I think this book does a great job of giving children some idea about all the different deities in a very fun easy read format. The pictures are nice and very creative as is the writing. One could argue about the language in some places, but that is what makes it easy for kids growing up in the US to relate to the content. Even I learned many new facts, that I did not know growing up in India.

Accessible

I am new to Hinduism. My child recently joined a Bharata Natyam dance class and we wanted to learn some more. This is a good primer. We read this and are ready to go onto some more advanced stuff - with a rough understanding of who a lot of the Gods and Goddesses are.
This is also funny and light hearted - very child friendly (and I liked it too)
