keep this book for years to come

I love this book! I used the 2nd edition, save yourself some money and use that edition for your theories class!! it is the best book. I had used it in undergrad, it was used in another grad school, and I loved it so much i rebought it for my own graduate theories class to supplement the required text. it presents the theories in such an understandable way! never read a better written theories book. the appendix is also tremendously helpful in summarazing and comparing the theories, giving examples of them in use.
I will keep this book for a long time!

Textbook review: Theory & Practice of Counseling & Psychotherapy

This textbook came to me very quickly, sooner than expected. It is in brand new condition, I felt like I bought a brand new book online, and paid less money for it! I have bought a couple of other textbooks online, and was equally pleased with them. The text was well described, and I knew I had the correct book because I searched using the ISBN, so there was no question as to it being the right book.

Develop your own counseling style using Corey's bestselling THEORY AND PRACTICE OF COUNSELING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY. You will see the major theories of counseling (psychoanalytic, Adlerian, existential, person-centered, Gestalt, reality, behavior, cognitive-behavior, family systems, feminist and, and postmodern approaches) as they are used in practice through a case study focused on one client, "Stan." The case of "Stan" appears in each chapter so you can see how the theory presented in that chapter informs therapeutic decision-making. "At a Glance" charts pinpoint the major differences between theories in areas such as multicultural focus, basic philosophies, and limitations.
