Women and history made accessible
This book made me realize how much I missed by never taking a
women's
history
course in college. Copyrighted in 1981, it gives an overview of the contributions of women through time. It is divided into segments: Politics and Power, Education and Social Reform, Religion, The Writtne word, The Performing Asts, The Visual Arts, Science and Medicine, Money and Management, Travel and Exploration, and Sport.Although published in Great Britain, its view is global. I am 57 and grew up at at time when opportunities for women were very limited. It is healing to see a wide range of women who managed to make a historical mark despite the obstacles. A wonderful historical reference book. I recommend it especially for any family rearing children of either sex. I got it out of the library and knew I had to have it. (I see that many copies of the books Amazon is offering are former library books. I hope that doesn't mean that libraries are discarding it as "too old.")
