I read this book in italian when I was a child, and reading it again now I am finding the same excitement and fun I experienced then. The translation is great, the humor of the original transpires in this edition as it is in the original. Adventure and romantic interludes are to be found at any turn of the page. It would be useful to read the other "Pirates" novels by Salgari, "Pirates of the Caribbeans", "The Red Corsair", "Pirates of Malasya", etc. When I was a child I and my friends were reading Salgari's books with the same passion as now children, and adults, are reading Harry Potter.
