It's 1991, and Derek Stillwater and Richard Coffee are doing recon on an Iraqi ammunition depot. Just as they provide the coordinates for the US bombers overhead, they are discovered by their enemy. At the moment the bombing commences, the wind shifts, carrying poison gas straight at them. The two Iraqis die within seconds; acting quickly, Stillwater inoculates himself, then Coffee, before fleeing the scene. Later, he passes out. Upon waking, he's told Coffee didn't make it.

Cut to the present. Terrorists have obtained samples of Chimera-13, a lethal man made virus, and are threatening to unleash it in Washington, DC. Now a troubleshooter with Homeland Security, Stillwater is called in to track the terrorists. His investigations and instincts tell him that the theft is the handiwork of his ex-partner, who has seemingly risen from the dead. Questioning his conclusion, and struggling with panic attacks that threaten to shut him down at any moment, Stillwater pursues the dangerous specter from his past.

A great ride!

I love a good techno-thriller, and I'm thrilled (pun intended) that there's a new writer who can match the talents of all my favorites. Terry obviously has in-depth knowledge of chemical-biological warfare, and he has us believing that the scenario in Pitchfork is real possibility. The hero, Derek Stillwater, is a step above other thriller heros because he has a human side, not the perfect world saving robot that other authors use. I highly recommend this book to any thriller fan. You may never open a can of Coke again!

Action Packed

From the first page of the first chapter, this book starts moving with action and suspense and doesn't let up. I coudn't wait to get to the next page. If you like Jack Ryan or Jason Bourne, you will love this book. Derek Stillwater is a reluctant hero. He just wants to do his job, but his natural curiosty, the way his mind works and his need to make things right pull him further into intrigue even against his will. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next. I couldn't help thinking this book was a modern day Three Days Of The Condor.

Action, Mystery, Great characters

I loved this book! I was hooked from the start. There's a lot of action and also a lot of mystery. The thing that sets this book apart from others is that there is always a surprise waiting around the corner.

What would happen if terrorists got their hands on a virus -- a terrifying mix of Ebola, hepatitis, and bubonic plague -- with the potential to wipe out humanity? This is the crisis that Derek Stillwater faces as troubleshooter for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
